I think @12345_54321 deserves an apology?

Certainly individuals as always so quick to shut peolle down without actually giving them a decent chance...

How can Tommo be dropped?

Was one of our best defenders last week. And isn't Petty undercooked?

If this is directed at me I asked a genuine question. I didn’t shut anyone down and certainly won’t be apologising. The poster ‘guaranteed’ us something last time which didn’t eventuate. I’m entitled to ask a question this time around and don’t go playing the nice guy now all of sudden now dd.

All I said is that I hated his info. Still do.

I don't agree with dropping Tomlinson, and I am a firm believer that we won't win a flag this year unless we get another decent tall marking target up forward, which seems to be Petty.

I suppose it was the old three into two doesn't go.

Once you assume Petty fit one of Smith or Tomlinson had to go.

If this works it may be a master stroke as both Petty and Smith can play forward and back thus allowing flexibility in weeks to come. Mind you I'm not convinced that Smith is a forward but it's all part of the ride

The betting market has come in slightly in Geelong's favour if that means much.

Geelong $1.96 - Melbourne $1.84

Gamble responsibly. :P

I’ll wait to see the teams named before thinking this could be the dumbest selection in MFC history…

100% thought you were going to say - Mind you I'm not convinced that Smith is a back but it's all part of the ride. 🤷‍♂️

No Oliver

Well! Let that settle in…

Thommo!  Don't have to be dead to be stiff!  Thought he was fantastic last week.

Great game - given a chance to shine and seized it well. At least he is on the bench. Very handy for clearances/spoils.

Overall, the team looks strong, adaptable and able. How will Badloss configure the onfield? Who will nullify Close, a significant feeder and gatherer?

I was late to this news but I am strongly opposed to dropping Tomlinson for Petty. It just feels wrong. Tomlinson’s game against Collingwood was too good to warrant Petty being an automatic inclusion. The harsh result should have, as unfortunate as it may be, been imposed on Petty, not Tomlinson.

Jordon for Spargo the correct call in Oliver’s ongoing absence.

JJ gets a game ahead of Bowey. No Oliver, give him the time he needs. Whilst it’s disappointing the club seems really focused on bringing players back fit and ready to play. Salem a great example. Be really interesting watching Petty tomorrow night. He looked comfortable forward against the Hawks so where’s he playing tomorrow??

I wish they would end all the smoke and mirrors stuff with Clarry.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.
