Fairly obvious question from me:  When Petty returns from injury, is his primary role for the remainder of this year likely to be as a defender or a forward?

Please start with 'thank you', what they have built defensively in the last few years has been extraordinary.

Question 1: God forbid, But if May unavailable and he had his pick of KPD from any team, who would he choose.

Question 2: Who from the current players would make a good coach and has a desire to do it.

Question 3: just by the by, the soft cap is a joke when AFL management salaries go up but the line coaches etc don't share. Why is the AFLCA not making more noise?

Interested to get his thoughts on how opposition teams are trying to move the ball against us. Clearly teams are trying to avoid May & Lever and pick there way through our zone. Also why do we struggle against opposition mid/small size forwards so much.

I'd be interested to know how much of a say he has with our kick in (or is it kick out?) strategies.  For example, we typically go to the left pocket to the ruckman (has been less rigid this year) - this is obviously the percentage play but is part of it so that we are best setup doing this if the opposition manage to force a turnover.

And as a follow up, how has the addition of Hunter impacted our approach to moving the ball from our defence.

as someone who was at port when troy was, i'd be interested to know...

did he always see himself going into coaching?

how does he look back on his time with choc then compared to now, and what effect the relationships he had with coaches at both the pear and the tigs has had with the way he has approached his own career move into coaching?

given he knew blair hartley at both the tigs and the pear, and geoff parker at the latter, how as a line coach does he go interacting with jason taylor and our recruiters and what they say about his future charges - like mcvee, turner/s, adams, etc. - coming thru?

does he see himself changing 'lines' in order to get greater experience from a coaching perspective?

tell him weaves says g'day!

Andy a critical question imo for KB pls....

Nick Daicos is often used for their kick ins (appox 40% of time).  Not as a defender but during his time in mid field and/or HF.

He then sprints down field after the kick in,  pretty much as a free extra in chains from defence, then other costests/stoppages through the middle and even going as deep as HF (if that's where he's playing at the time).

Every team no doubt has a plan in general play for Nick, however i would like to know if we specifically have a plan for this part of his game re kick ins and his transition back to mid field or HF as an extra outside receiver.

I dont expect to know what the plan is (if any) obviously.  Just want to know if there is one pls.

Amazing content guys. So keen to hear what Troy has to say as a catalist for a lot of our success the past few years.

Q: He mentioned in a postgame interview how poised and calm Judd McVee was with ball in hand and how he seems to glide across the ground. Is there a player that Judd reminds him of with his skill set and ability to impact the contest?

He might not be able to answer my next question as its more tactical perhaps.

Q: With kick-ins this year there seems to have been some adjustments made. Are kick-in situations something that is practiced? Secondly, are kick-in tactics (or schemes) varied depending on how opposition teams set up defensively or is it simply a set play system we use every week? I imagine it also depends on who is kicking it in at the time.

I'm always a bit weary of asking tactical questions. I want to know the answers as much as we all do but your simply not going to get the answer and nor should you.

I agree. As much as we would all love to know the philosophy, I'm perfectly fine with other clubs not knowing as well.

Thanks in anticipation for yet another insightful podcast beloved by Demon fanatics.

Aside from the obvious question re Petty's best role, can you please ask where (and when) he sees Disco fitting into the team?  He has had one game in 12 months despite being regularly amongst Casey's better players.  3rd tall or a bigger flanker?  Too much the Lever role?  Can we retain him if he doesn't get game time?

Also how is skinny young Adams progressing?  Can he see him getting a game in 2024 or will he need a full two year apprenticeship?  I understand that patience is needed for these young tall KPPs in particular.

PS a million congratulations showing patience and persistence with Judd McVee who looks an absolute ripper.  He seemed to debut with exquisite timing.  My first real viewing of him was v Martin in the practice game and he has come along in leaps and bounds since.  A real coup in giving him that challenge.

Bowey and McVee developing very nicely.
who’s the next small to medium defender being groomed once Hibbo departs?

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
