6 - Kade Chandler - an elite, all-Australian-standard interpretation of his role.  Incredible attitude and a technically flawless performance.

5. Christian Petracca - will be the consensus BOG and an outstanding performance.

4. Clayton Oliver - an incredible player.

3. Angus Brayshaw - back to his best.

2. Kysaiah Kropinyeri-Pickett - a very good Pickett game.

1. Bayley Fritsch - deadly in front of goal when the result was in the balance.

When was that exactly?

Edit: Haha! Yes, I guess he did kick that goal when there was only six points in it. Excellent point!

Almost impossible task here, but North didn’t offer AFL level resistance.

I’ll go with:

6.  Petracca

5.  Chandler

4.  Oliver

3.   Grundy

2.  Brayshaw

1.  Langdon

Special mentions:  Everyone else, except Harmes, who played a role, but didn’t spend much time on ground.

From the Director's chair;

Will be seeking a new labour hire company. As the 'extras' were clearly not up to it. Witches hats will be painted bright orange in future.

Opposition hyperbole watch;

Swab the whole North Melbourne side. A bunch of imposters dreaming they were of AFL standard.

Adjudication;

Old habits die hard. Typically Razor pulled his celebrity umpire stunt, thinking he was the entertainment.

Media;

On a slow uneventful Saturday night, Carlton was the big news.

I thought Grundy really struggled early.  He worked his way into the game but he wasn't in the best 6 over the night.

6. Petracca - clear BOG

5. Oliver - another strong performance

4. Chandler

3. Brayshaw

2. Fritsch

  • REPORT: Collingwood

    The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

    Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
