Max’s kick for goal last game v Cats 2021 showing 5 Cats players within the protected area of the man on the mark.

No 50m of course.

But no need for a 50 as it was a goal.

Note last night the 50 wasn't paid until it was clear the kick wasn't a goal

Tough, hard fought win. Thought ANB held it together for us at crucial moments. Lingers and Hunter won some key contests and great to see Grundy and Gawn both taking hold of the game in different areas of the field. Interesting to hear Max say that Goody tells them who is starting ruck at the beginning of quarters and then they work it out themselves. I'm excited about the possibilities of that growing chemistry between the big fellas. Chandler, ROOOOOO big plaudits.

I applaud your your overt cynicism.

Tell us your version of what you would say in the press conference?

The question is whether there is a record of actually responding effectively.

But if I were the Coach I'd model Ross Lyon and leave everyone confused until we ran out next week with a different line up

To say nothing of the injury toll on their lift.

Nothing to be  optimistic about from  that win.

As usual Goodwins presser was a pretence of having  a " plan".

He talked about working on the forward structure for the last half of last season..and did nothing!

This season it looks like " structuring" the big men on game day .

Chaos to come for sure.

Essendon,St.Kilda and Carlton better collapse or the Dee's will miss finals

Carlton? 🤣

Serious?

It was cringe as [censored] interview until Chandler came in and composed himself well. Gus could barely put any full stop to his conversation he was talking that fast that you could barely keep up with what he was saying.

Majority of the interview was spent talking about Brayshaw's engagement and nicknames of the players and barely anything about the game. This is why Channel 7 is the worst in the business led by Hamish. They honestly think this is exactly what the supporters want to hear post game.

Rubbish content by them once again.

The remote control is your friend Dazz

Don’t think he did. Umpire explained the rule on the goal line, when May asked what happened.

The ANZAC day stuff is so over the top. There is no such thing as ANZAC eve, it isn’t Christmas or New Year. It shouldn’t be a giant commercial exercise and although it’s good for the club’s bottom line I wish we didn’t play this match.

Okay, we can just call it the match before ANZAC day

When we walked back to the car we were all excited and happy, it was a great night the pre-game experience was moving and well respected. Both teams played hard tough footy and even though they got the rub of the green from the 4 adjudicators we still managed to kick 9 of the last 13 goals and were still running hard at the end of game. They took us on early and ran out to a 25 point lead and we took them on and clawed our way back to an 18 point win that’s a 43 point turnaround despite numerous poor decisions against us. Our better and most experienced players All played well, our second stringers all had a crack and our 5 kids all did themselves proud ( Bowey, Chandler, McVee, JVR and Laurie) and all in front of a crowd of almost 84K noisy excited fans, how good does it get.!!!!

PS( The Anzac Eve game for those of us that have had family members who fought and were damaged in the Great Wars and those that are still representing us in the Military this game is an expression of our care and respect for all who have served.)

Good to see wiser heads somewhere in the coaches box prevail and shift Gus in the middle. Correlated with goals.

Interesting observation. Fully agreed - he does see things ahead - and across. Plus, he can bob up against oppo players and take the unexpected mark.

Melbourne supporters easily outnumbered them. Richmond has a very big bandwagon when they're up and about. I put Hawthorn in that category as well.

Not related, but I was astonished by the amount of merch the Richmond fans had.  Must add a serious amount of cash into their coffers.

We all have our cultural observations - to many, some, a few or individuals, these are important for many reasons and for others, less important, perhaps. However, observations are respected, not banished. It's all part of the diversity of what it is to be an Australian, whichever way it might otherwise be interpreted.

Well there isn't Xmas Eve or NYE either they aren't official public holidays.

This just happens to be a night to play a big game on that we happen to be part of every year now, I'm not complaining.

It isn’t a tradition to cheer some army bloke with fire and 85000 people waving phone lights around like you’re at a Coldplay concert the night before ANZAC day.

I lived out at the end of a road on the banks of the Yarra in Kangaroo Ground.

A nature reserve.

The  first settler there was a digger back from WW1 who was a hermit and wanted the peace.

Pre nature reserve he planted daffodils which have spread and carpet the bush in a mist un Aussie way but work as calling the regeneration of life each season.

My bet is you'd never have got him to join  90 000 [censored] pretending to honour the fallen before a football  match, let alone the night before.

The Dawn Sevice is something altogether different

    CONSISTENCY by The Oracle

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds. After a slow start in the opening term when they failed to take advantage of the breeze, it appeared that the Demons had decided
