He doesn’t. Nobody would believe it anyway.
It’s like how he was a Richmond supporter when I first met him… that did not last long

Not super 100% confident about tonight being that easy - we really should win but a couple of Tigers mainly Dusty and Bolton if they get off the chain worry me....

I'll tip us by 25 in a solid but not spectacular win

We shouldn't be losing this game. Not with their missing players and our close-enough-to full strength line up.

Win and we go back into the top 4. Lose and we'll be out of the top 8 for the first time since the end of the 2020 season.

I am totally with you. Having said that it annoys me that I even have to think like that. I could almost get how and why we lost to Brisbane. I can’t get over the loss to Essendon.

I really hope that the ‘premiership contender’ Melbourne turns up tonight. I want other teams in coming weeks dreading having to play against us rather than seeing us as an opportunity to win.

GO DEES!!!!!

They wouldn't want people walking in, getting to their seats, talking and all that jazz while the ceremony is on

GO DEES!!!!!

If I was a coach and hearing my players dreading to play against another team and not thinking that you can win I would hang up my whistle and give the game totally away, every game is winnable.

Most of you know my stance on Essendon but I really think they're flying out of the radar this year whether they can keep it up all year and stay there is another story but at this present time they're not easy beats.

What if the lights dont come back on before the first bounce?

Are the towers on the grid with back up generators. We've had a few games disrupted recently due to power failures.

Thats why i am opposed to a night GF. Imagine if the lights went down in the last qtr with a goal in it.FMD!!

Think we will win fairly convincingly providing the forwards get up and about. Having Max or Grundy down there may help but would love JVR to finally step up and show us what he is made of. He is lucky to still be in the team IMV as he was just as bad as TMac last week. Go get them JVR. Please.

I thought your husband's name was Mr No More. At least, that's what I assumed given I seem to recall you changed your name to Jaded No More around the time you got married.

That's funny on so many levels.

I completely understand the Aretha Franklinism. However, I assumed they would still let people enter the stadium but hold them back from going to their seats. Perhaps that's too resource intensive, though.

This is the game back in 2021 that I became a true believer when I realised that we were a serious premiership contender.

I hope that this game I can again capture my faith again and believe.  Sounds bit like a religion doesn’t it….

In particular, according to the master of profundity aka Dermie, the lap of the ‘G by the lone Light Horse Troop in complete darkness is the most poignant part.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

I always associate this night with the part of the ode, "At the going down of the sun", and leading to the dawn service.

The beginning of reflection.

The ceremony and people's energy, is amazing and so heart filled.

I should have known you would respond.

The bas543d drove off too quick.

I'm actually quite confident about this game.

Bombers beat us for a number of reasons, but mostly because we were a rabble down back. Brining back Lever and Hibbo should address alot of this.

Im also bouyed by the response against the Swans after the Lions loss. Hope to see a similar response this week. Our players like the big occasions too.

Lastly im putting blind faith in travel being a contributing factor in the lack lustre performance in SA. Trips to QLD, WA and SA to start the season didn't help our cause.

We were missing Lever, Salem, Hibberd and Petty (as a defender). In addition, it looked to me that May had a back problem as he seemed unable to bend over.  That's a very different defensive unit to the 2021 GF.

I thought Petty played plenty of time down back last week. Salem's 2021 form was incredible too.

But yes, no Lever and Hibbo made us alot weaker - both are good one on one, and Levers ability to judge when to leave his man and when to stay was sorely missed.

Yes, he did.

With all due respect to the writer - I wish writers/journalists/pundits wouldn't dumb down language when referencing a match.

I'd argue, we didn't have an 'off week'. May looked hobbled, Lever was out with an injury, Hibered was out injured, Gawn was out injured, and all these injuries combined contributed to a system that broke down....

Are you sure gates are closed and not just lights out from 6.55?

Could be lots of angry people queuing to get in after 6.55 if gates are closed - afterall it is a work day and people will be coming from all over Melbourrne.

PSA

For those using Glen Waverley line , no trains at end  of game ,only buses

Glen Waverley line passengers
Buses will replace trains between Richmond and Glen Waverley this evening.
Passengers are advised to go to Richmond station for replacement bus services.
Those travelling beyond East Malvern are to get a Pakenham or Frankston train to Caulfield station for replacement bus services.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
