Oliver is a superstar

Smith is not

Those three are above that level, Smith is a 22yo that has hit elite numbers already.  the 2021 final series he was outstanding.

How many of our midfielders couldn't kick before Choco came along?  This Kid would compliment our midfield perfectly with his speed and line breaking.

Grundy is entitled to his contract. We agreed to pay a portion of what he was given by Collingwood. If he wants it, he can keep it. We have to honour it (so does Collingwood).

If he wants to leave, and other clubs are only interested if he takes a pay cut, that’s a decision for him.

Whether or not we have to pay a portion or Collingwood does is AFAIK unknown.

On a podcast I heard there’s a rule that you can’t be paid by three clubs. So we or the new club would have to pay collingwoods share if we were to trade him.

I'm not totally against it, although a few of the ?'s about him have been highlighted previously eg missing targets, behavioural, haircut 🫠

That said, he is still young and I'm not sure the kennel is a great environment - just my take.

A very good player with further potential would be my description of him.

That seems like a rule for the sake of having a rule. Would like to see official confirmation of that.

Has been cleared up, we would not be paying any part of his contract.  unless it was on top of what Collingwood are paying.  Nothing changes for Collingwood they have agreed to pay X amount over X years, they have to stick to that.

John Ralph reported this weeks ago on "on the couch"

Clarry was like that before chocco rocked up, he is only 22 has all the tools.  The behavioral thing is a beat up, he just got caught.  Don't tell me over 50% of the comp haven't "enjoyed" their time off in the off-season. (I'm being very conservative with 50%)

Haha, i'm sure if he was one of "our boys" we would love the hair

Now I appreciate that Max Holmes is reported to have bought a property in Belmont*, but if Grundy does seek a trade then how about this for a 'mega-deal'?

  • Grundy to Sydney
  • Dylan Stephens to Geelong
  • Max Holmes to Melbourne

*Unsure as to the Dry Sheep Equivalent running capacity of properties in Belmont.

Incorrect.

Grundy has a deal with Pies separately, that they pay their share directly to him.

If he leaves, new club will pay balance the same as we did. That’s two clubs and not even sure of the rule you mentioned.

Now that is stuff of fantasy, would love to get Holmes but he isn't going anywhere.

It is early you never know, but i don't think so at this stage.

I think a more realistic target could be Tarryn Thomas, bit of a rascal but can play. Forward and mid adds something we dont' have a lot of.

And apparetnly on the outer at North.

According to some a deal is just about done.

I think they have shown their hand now that he will only play if Max goes down.  Supposedly Grundy only played ruck in the magoos

He can play alright. However, I watched him play attend a game at Blundstone where he'd clearly chosen not to.

Do you blame him?

He was excellent on Saturday. I have him in my SC team so watch closely. Only thing which I think we would hopefully take out of his game is he tends to coast a lot when chasing opponents.

Agree, the risk and reward factor. I do think you could probably accuse a lot of players in bad teams of those attributes though, I guess you'd call it the art of coaching, getting the most out of players and getting them to buy in.

Im not saying it would work, but if he could buy in to the Melbourne way he'd be a very handy player. And rumours are Norf are willing to part with him.

Sydneys Armati will be offered to us for Grundy and our 3 Selection suits me as we have a young Ruck Backup and potential Forward i was told this by my friend that works for a Player Manager

Didn’t Amarti just sign a new contract?

+ 1 👆. Please clarify @Ferghus31 what you mean by our 3 Selection?

Brodes is settled in Melbourne;

Gawn is on his last legs;

Brodes is a keeper, remember Gawn has been out on injury already this year,

Brodie filled in admirably.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
