Kozzy Pickett Re-Signs for 4 Years

Out of interest, is there anyone in the industry other than Kane Cornes who is discussing the possibility of Pickett leaving us at the end of the year?

Is there anyone in the industry besides Pickett who is out of contract at the end of 2023?

Tom De Koning, Ben McKay and Mitch Geogiadas are the 3 that would be thr most popular.

Losing a generational ruckman and small forward in the space of 12/24 months would be pretty disgraceful let alone just after winning a flag, club will need to have a look at itself and what went wrong if it ends up that way. We haven’t even started talking about Rivers yet who is also out of contract and from WA

What's there to look at?  We drafted 2 players that played in a premiership team.  Those players are so good, other teams are throwing bucketloads of cash at them and capitilising on a go home factor to lever them away from us.  It's part of the game.  There were 5 players that started at other clubs that also played in our premiership (Hibbo, May, Lever, Langdon and BBB).  Yes it sucks and we'd prefer it to be another way, but it's more a sign that we are doing things right than wrong.  Would you prefer we only drafted players that no other clubs want?

Hopefully if Kozzy leaves, the club that gets him pays overs for him, in terms of both his contract and the trade.

The first play of this draft highlight package is one people probably won’t ever forget, I would have drafted him for that alone.

Gulp!

And hunter and Grundy will play in a premiership this year.

He’s a Melbourne player until he’s not. Until then we block out the unsubstantiated noise and enjoy watching him play.

Leave Kane Cornes to disappear further up his own [censored] and keep shouting into the cavernous wreck.

Cornes is hanging onto a comment made last year during trade period. "In love with Melb, but not the city."

That was almost 6 months ago now, im sure that the Dees and even Kossie himself are doing everything to make sure he is happy and enjoying himself.

If he hasn't signed by mid season we'll then get worried.  This time we have to be serious about bringing the crows into discussions, ports Draft hand is not going to get it done!

Let's hope it doesn't get to that!

Since then his two housemates have left. You cannot underestimate the impact that this may have had on him. Its hard to get a read on friendship circles within the club (as they are all not best mates), but we can only hope that Kozzy is being smothered by those that stay behind.

He needs a GF and housemates that bleed red and blue.

Let me know when you have an answer to that.. because my guess is that you would have cracked the nut that will save this thread from spiraling out to 100 pages by end of the year.

To look at how we are accomodating interstate players? Why don’t Jackson and Pickett like living in Melbourne enough for them to leave the club ? The idea that we’re fine with having these players for 2-4 years and then getting high draft picks for them is ridiculous. They’re nowhere near their peak yet. We don’t want an 18 year old replacing Kozzy or Jacko, we need to win another flag with the list we have. We need Kozzy kicking 40 goals every year and we needed Jacko to be our #1 ruck for the next decade, a first year player isn’t going to help us push towards another flag right now. We haven’t brought JVR in for 2-3 years to just get a good pick out of him, he needs to be our KPF for the next 10. So yes the club needs to have a look at a few things if we end up losing the entire 2019 draft class after just 4 years, or it’ll just keep happening over and over again? Doesn’t sound like Jason Taylor is keen to stop drafting interstate if they’re the best talent available

Rest assured, Kozzie is well-loved by all of the boys.

He also has a girlfriend who isn’t from another state. They’ve been together for quite a while and her family are all here in Melbourne.

Well he could have still done that if his mates had stayed.

Well loved by all the boys sure, but the club is obviously aware that he’s feeling the loss of his two closest mates Toby and Luke by bringing in Burgoyne over the summer and thinking about Liam Henry in a trade. Let’s be honest, we don’t need either of those players and it’s all Kozzy related

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
