There strange belief that training is somehow designed or done with any fan or supporter in mind is so baffling to me. Your favourite band don't give you daily updates when writing and recording new music, they don't stream live recording sessions and rehearsals. The rehearsing and filming of the movies and tv shows you watch aren't made readily available to the public. Training time is for the players and the club. Keen eyes choosing to wander by and observe is entirely their prerogative, but there seems to be a real loss of the purpose of training and that it's not designed for public consumption or sharing. It's a time for professionals to hone their craft and simulate situations they may face in games etc. If it needs to be moved at the last minute as its deemed that's the best course of action to help win games, then that has to be ok. There should be no expectations from supporters that training is aimed at or particularly takes them into consideration. Training galleries have been consistent and uploaded almost immediately twice a week for almost the entirety of pre season. Digital channels have utilized short, sharp, tiktok style clips which is what those most engaged with technology currently know and expect. I know summer is long, and everyone's aching for footy, but the things people find to complain about are getting very very petty. The club's media stuff is fine. It's better than some clubs, worse than others, but this idea that it's the worst in the league is laughable.

The demons media is abysmal..: how difficult is it to do an interview with the coaches or management??? How difficult is it to do an interview with most of the playing list? Part of the role of a football club is in promotion. You are selling memberships. I’m not expecting a stream of the full training session but publish something a bit more detailed than a 4 sec short film

I'm definitely not going to say we are the best, but are far from the worst.

We get photo galleries pretty much every training session and a lot of short clips and stories on Insta.

I agree it would be good to see some more video clips.

I assume they probably have someone very new in the role, so they may be learning on the job so will give the benefit of the doubt.

Agree, I think too many are basing their thoughts of the website alone.

The socials: Facebook, Instagram, Snap Chat, Twitter and Tic Tok have regular content on it.  And weather people like it or not, this is the future (and very much current) way of posting information.

Fact is we are looking to be top 4, and they will only show what they want to show.  Whilst I would love to see internal trial footage, I'm happy for them to hold the cards close to their chest at this point of pre-season.

Agree.  And there is also an excellent photo of the back of Mr Eds head.

Been poor for many years now, Ben Gibson tried hard, but, I feel was not given the support he should have endured….

I think he did a good enough job. But you're right, the lack of support around him was minimal unfortunately.

Agree, a very good job under difficult circumstances - with both Men’s and women’s as well as Gus and Gawny…will be heavily missed especially during season

Agree.

The season hasn't even started and I already feel that we're feeling the affects of his departure.

Does anyone know if any sessions are happening at Gosch's Wednesday or Thursday? (I know the practice game is Friday but unable to attend most likely).

I'm in Melbourne for a few days so would love to see the boys in person, the first time since the Grand Final :)

Training is at Gosch’s tomorrow at 9:30am.

But of course that’s subject to change.

It’s a shame you can’t make it to the practice match on Friday, but there’s the Family Day on Saturday if you’re still in Melbourne!

Not only can you see the boys live, but you can meet them and get autographs, watch BBB’s head transformation, and the highlight of the day… you can indulge in the delicious fare the Demon Army will have on offer. Who doesn’t love a sausage in bread of a Saturday morning?! And you think you’ve had the best cakes ever at some point in your life?! Think again! Our cakes (the cupcakes in particular) are next level delicious. We’ll also be selling merch, so… jump on it!!!

He's a gem, did the best with what he had to work with. Will do well in his next endeavour.

Where is Goodwin?

Is he still our coach. LOL

I havent heard from him since about Nov draft.

Given his frank discussions after the 2021 GF about experiencing burnout at times during his coaching career, good chance the club and himself are keeping his media and public roles to an absolute minimum during the off-season allowing him to focus on the players and coaching.

We aren’t asking for a mini series on his life. Is it too much to ask for a 5 minute interview?

Goodwin knows that talk is cheap I think we will see him after the practice matches and we are leading into the real season. I know that I cringe whenever I see other coaches being interviewed during pre-season it feels scripted I would rather hear from Williams and Line coaches or the players. But that’s just me. Lol.!!!

Geeze I can't wait for the real stuff to start, no more bickering about training being moved and the club didn't inform anyone, training base arguments or AGM politics it will just get back to straight forward selections arguments, game day disagreements and bitching about the umpires 🤭😜🤣

No posting on MFC websites of any training photos today.

Was there anything on the social pages?

I would guess they have had a couple of days off, so as to freshen up before they get ready for the Big Show.

Chances are they will train down at Gosch's Wednesday 8th, 9.30am. Nothing has been posted on the website yet.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 13th November 2024

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers braved the rain and headed down to Gosch's paddock to bring you their observations from the second day of Preseason training for the 1st to 4th Year players.
