He said “you’re deranged” 😂

First off I think "deranged" is reserved for WCW. Secondly, you should explain the term " schadenfreude" to him. Thirdly, if he fails to appreciate your highly refined sense of humour, I suggest he might not be a "keeper" (unless he is a MFC supporter of course)

Too many mights

Must prioritise ladder position over draft pick at this point in time. Go Freo next weekend and go Geelong!

I don’t think Lions can win next week against Freo but I’d expect Port to give some form response against Geelong. Was touch and go with Alir potentially missing - who knows maybe some delayed concussion.

As I mentioned in another thread it is interested to hear migraine being mentioned instead of concussion regarding the Port head clash incident.

The Suns have done us a massive favour, but unfortunately Freo's win may give them a bit of confidence heading into the final few games

Their only home games are against teams above us so they can go for it. They definitely win against WCE. Maybe the Hawks but that’s at the G in the last round - we will see how motivated they are. I think they win 2 on the way home but still finish 15th on percentage.

Honestly if they’re motivated enough to beat Brisbane and Port, they’ll do us a solid.

If Freo can knock off Port and Brisbane I would be more than happy to slip a couple of spots in the draft.

I have been thinking about theme song for this thread. Because it needs one.

And found one, with both a death riding AND nautical vibe (tricky to find a track with both elements).

Then the anchors (deliberate rhyming slang) beat the Cats and scuppered that for this week.

Or, so I thought"

Thanks to the Suns, i now give you (by the by, a brilliant track from one of the greatest ever AO rock records @whatwhat say what):

Death ship

I am the captain of a ghostly crew,
Sail the seven seas with nothing to do.
The girl that I thought was untrue
Really loved me

Near hidden reefs we appear in the gloom
Luring mariners to their doom.
As we're condemned, we condemn others too.
Who would love me? Who? Would You?
I'm asking you.

I'm on the Death Ship,
I sail the seas alone.
Death Ship, I can call no port home.
Lost souls cry to Hell in the wind
Let us in, let us in, let us in!

I need somebody who will die for me
To free me of this misery.
I need someone who will cry for me
Really love me, really.

How didn't Allir Allir come off after that hit? that was terrible use of the concussion protocols.

Looks like Port has a very bad history of managing concussions, surely the AFL will step in? 🙄

Hang on Fremantle still have pick 21. Where have they been hiding that? I want that too. C’mon Freo, hand it over.

Amazing what a Dockers win has done to this thread which I found on Page 3.

Anyway, this is how things stand with four rounds to play:- IMG_4189.thumb.jpeg.0312de826378085a7d11cea78ece5e5b.jpeg

We win a flag and get pick 4?

What sorcery is this?

People surely want Freo to win so we can go ahead of Brisbane on the ladder....right?

Nah we just need to win by 15 goals more than the lions.

Absolutely.

But on top of that I want GC to beat Adelaide so there is some kind of buffer above Freo.

I get the humour in your post, but we need to get a game clear of the Lions for insurance purposes, not just percentage.

Nah, we will win our last four and pass lions the lions on percentage - even if they beat Freo and happen to beat the pies at Marvel (which i think they may well do).

What we need is a high scoring bruising, niggly encounter that the lions win by a point. Though i'd take a draw.

And i wouldn't mind Zorko getting weeks for hitting however tags Neale out of the game and/or gets into his face all game about being a loud mouthed, whining thug.

The Freo Lions game is late Sunday arvo in Perth, which means a late flight out of Perth for the the lions and players back in their own beds at 3am on the Monday.

The Lions play the crows at the gabba on the following Saturday, so a six day break. They are favs for that game, but the Crows, who have a 7 day break, won't be easy to beat.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
