The premiership midfielder consolidated his place in the main 22 where he remained the second fiddle to an outstanding midfield but he had some fine moments during the season.

"Won the coaches’ award after his best season yet at AFL level. In his fourth year at the Demons, Sparrow played a career-high 23 games, averaging 16 disposals and 3.4 tackles with his stints in the midfield. Signed a two-year contract extension in March to tie him to the club until 2024." - Herald Sun

Another one of my favourite young guns that play the selfless role for the team. His stats went through the roof in 2022 and hopefully he can continue to expand his role within the team. Needs to nail those shots within 50 and continue to hurt the opposition and increase his midfield minutes. Tom could be our JV replacement when JV gives it away.!!

Can sure kick a snag and was surprised he only nailed 7 for the year.

Didn’t take a quantum leap from 2021 to 2022 (mind you who did) but hopefully 2023 will be a major break out.

Definitely improved his stats this year, becoming more involved averaging 16 possies per game, a lot from the half forward line. You'd think Goodwin now will be in his ear to now take a starting position in the midfield and challenge the big names. He's a nice kick and a beast. He has the attributes to go the next level.

Love Sparrow. Would like to see him get caught HTB a bit less and stop flying for marks that aren't his, but looking forward to his development in 2023. If he keeps putting on size and spending more time in the midfield then the sky's the limit.

Shocked he has so many fans, but I hope for the best...!

I get you, but for mine his goal in the GF 3rd quarter gives him plenty of points for  such a young palyer to perservere.

Takes Clarry's handball and kicks a 55m goal off maybe 2 steps at most with 4 Dogs running straight at him. Tmac did the shepherd of the century to help it through.

Many goals can be claimed to have locked in the game turning moment, and I rate this as one of them.

Yes he has to improve areas of his game but most do.

Underwhelming for me this year. Another who at times should have been dropped for players who were in good form at VFL level.

Needs a big summer on the track.

Yes I agree that he needs a big summer ahead.  He tends to fumble under pressure and needs to just concentrate on the right decisions.  He’s young and got the tools - strength, pace, agression etc to be very handy - mainly as a rotating half forward/midfielder.  I’d definitely get him into the goalkicking groove over the summer.  He has plenty of opportunities and needs to hit the scoreboard.  At least 20+ goals next year at Approx 1 goal a game is the minimum expectation.

Disposal is an issue. Can’t remember the game this year, but streaming forward with Oliver clear and he handballed behind him and the opposition went on to score. Summed his last half of the year up.
He is an ‘almost’ player.

One of my faves

Seemed to stagnate a bit this year tho but is young and gaining more confidence every game.

He is very lucky to be playing in the shadow of two potential legends and can go on learning the caper without undue pressure.

Looking fwd to a big '23

…. and the icing on the cake in the first minute Q4 a beautifully thought out and weighted pass to BBB when he could easily be excused for having a ping.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
