I am keen to discuss our coaching roster.  How do we rate Goody (7/10 for me)

should we change things up? Get a forwards coach that isnt Stafford?

what happened to Chockos supposed focus on skills?

selwyn ‘play injured’ griffiths.?..?

what needs to change to get our side back on track for 23, and do we have the right personnel on and off the paddock to deliver.

Similar to Royal Demon's question on how we plan to use Gawn and Grundy. Do you feel it could be Grundy doing most of the ruck work with Gawn up forward and then occasionally swap into the ruck or could we some something like Grundy rucking from back 50 to middle and Max rucking in the forward 50 which would allow Grundy to stay a kick behind? Or could it be something else altogether?

Why not go the other way around ?

Grundy ruck and up forward as he can kick straight

Gawns kicking for Goal is unreliable?

Well I'd personally not want Gawn spending so much time up forward but I'm working on the theory that this is what they have in mind if they plan on Grundy shouldering most of the ruck work.

I agree RSM, I'd have Max one kick behind play and Grundy on ball and running forward

Grundy has kicked 60 goals 55 from 177 games with a conversion rate of 52.2%

Max has kicked 88 goals 79 from 181 games with aconversion rate of 52.7%

I don't have the minutes up forward stats but I'm willing to bet the house Max has spent more time up forward.

* These stats do not include complete misses.

Geelong, Collingwood plus Sydney took chances on younger but obviously talented players during the season gone bye. A number of which added to their team’s performance all going past the Demons.

As an avid VFL Casey Demons watcher and attendee at the Grand Final at Princess Park. We appear to have some very exciting talent waiting in the wings.

Did the football department err in not debuting or providing sufficient opportunity for younger players this year?

Or are they astutely ensuring future ongoing success by building solid physical and performance attributes that will allow younger players to make an impact when given the green light next season?

Yes - err or astute.  Time will tell.

We're probably not bringing in an AA ruck to play both of them between the arcs to be fair

Great wrap up show guys, fell asleep with about 15 mins to go and will have to listen to that part back but overall great stuff. Loved the line by line analysis.

Fantastic season from you guys, and the wrap was in keeping with your outstanding work throughout 2022.  Thank you!

Well done guys but one clarification is required on the subject of whether James Jordon was dropped at the end of the season. He was in fact, named as the “medical sub” for the Round 23 match v Brisbane and was not used. He played in the Casey VFL team against the Brisbane reserves on the following day and then injured his foot at training during the following week and missed out on playing in the finals.

Re making it to the end, Andy and the team, I'd have to say the DL podcast is the most attention absorbing media  out there for my tastes. Better than Netflix, a movie or any other footy media. I do love to pop it on while doing the dishes and other house chores, so it does make time go quickly and 2-3 hours never feels that long.

Keep up the great work and look forward to hearing you all again next year. PS I'm not fishing for freebies!

Thank you for those kind words. I will use that review on the billboard I post in Times Square next season to promote the Podcast.

Seriously though thank you for listening and thank you to all of our listeners, contributors and my cohosts @binman & @george_on_the_outer

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
