Last week against the Lions would have been different if Harris played I reckon.

Cracking win by the girls. Tayla was dominant forward. Fantastic mark she is.
Purcell with 30 touch in a 70 minute game is ridiculous

Good to see a 4 Q effort after the last 2 weeks

It drizzled all second half which made it harder to execute skills.  A solid win, as expected.

A nice vibe at Ikon.

Watched the full game. 2 things I learnt. Dees are very very good. Secondly, the standard has improved dramatically since the last game I watched last season - AFLW will continue to grow at a fast rate IMO.

Go Dees!

Solid enough win so now over to Freo.

Another good solid win. Would have liked to see the scoring push on int he second half as that has been a weak point for the season so far, but hard to judge it given the weather and also hard to really complain about such a clear win.

I really, really don't want Melbourne to be 'second best' for another season though, so I'd like to see ti all click into place and some absolute thrashings handed out.

Good to have Goldie back...

She didn't get heaps of it but when she got it she broke lines and kicked long, a real weapon, particularly in the AFLW.

Late to the party, but yeah, a good win that's hard to complain about, though slotting a few more would have been handy as per usual.

Loved the four-quarter effort and pressure though against an obviously under-resourced team that played very defensively after half time. Smother work top notch, all those little things. Liked the way everyone got around Duffy on debut.

Also good to see the magnets thrown around a little. Goldrick a welcome return and she'll build.

And congrats to L.Pearce on a magnificent 50 games. Special shout out to our cheer squad who completely outperformed the home fans on every level!

Coaches Votes V Carlton

9. Tayla Harris (MELB)
9. Eliza West (MELB)
6. Vaomua Laloifi (CARL)
4. Olivia Purcell (MELB)
2. Sarah Lampard (MELB)

The opposing coaches were in almost complete agreement as to the best players were aside from who was BOG.

Eliza West’s improvement has been dramatic. She only debuted this year (season 6) and it is fair to say all her skills, aside from her ball winning capabilities, were sketchy. She is now a reliable (short) kick, good with her hands and a tenacious tackler. She seems to have a natural feel for the game and is a vital cog in our midfield set up.

Vote for Paxy for GOTY!

Also noteworthy (although as has been pointed out, take out a couple of the older players and our core is quite young, though that's a theme across the competition, I'd imagine):

Paxy will be hard to replace when the time comes. She's having another great season. Top 5 B&F i reckon

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
