I guess they didn’t read the rules before they joined the VFL

The fact that there's a Gold Coast based reserves level footy club with enough passionate fans to accuse the other side of cheating on social media is a feel good moment for the national game!

Good win Casey. Glad to hear the seniors were all there to support them. Premierships are special at any level.

Southport should be in the AFL instead of the Suns. Actual club with history, established supporter base and jumper that doesn't induce nausea.

Great win.
Great season

Congratulations to everyone at Casey Demons

Tough conditions but the team had warriors all over the park.

Chandler and Dunstan were in and under the packs all day. Melksham 4 goals was a match winning effort.
JVR good in tough conditions for a key forward.  Weid in the ruck was ok against a bigger bodied opponent (break even probably). Oskar Baker (in probably his last game at the Dees) was also in the best, with his kicking and running all day.
White (BOG) and Munro are absolutely hard nuts. Munro 17 tackles and a goal.  Wow the emotion.
A special mention for Daniel Turner’s two smothers in the dying minutes (with the game already won) were excellent.  His determination and aggression will be good for MFC next year.

Casey - a great year. Reward for the stalwarts and development of the youngsters.  Job done.

Yeah with you on that one 100%

Southport Sooks.  It’s the VFL and they’re lucky to be even included.

Some turn flag would probably say Melksham's 4 goals were the difference and it was unfair that he played. Sooky lala

Casey’s first priority is to develop afl players and that needs to be reinforced next year.

Their first priority is to win the premiership of the competition they are in.

This is the best reserves system we have currently. I'm sure teams would rather have their own reserves teams like the old days but it is simply not feasible at this time.

We align with a VFL club, a good one mind you with a history of their own. Work alongside each other, they make it work pretty well.

Objective

- Win the premiership

delivered

- Have experienced players ready to step up if required

Delivered … Dunstan. Chandler. Bedford.  Tomlinson. Melksham. Baker  etc

Develop players for MFC

Delivered… Turner. JVR. Laurie.  Woey jnr. ANW.  Howes. Mcvee.

3/3

I really love the way Chandler moves he's agile and able to turn quickly in short spaces. I hope like hell we hang onto him in 23 and for gods sake play him. I think he's ready to go.

Did anyone follow Howes' performance today? Did he show anything to suggest that even though his stats were ordinary, he was able to apply some pressure to the opposition?

We were victorian champions before today, they are lucky to be in the comp

He’s a classy mover but as a 18yo lean lad, conditions were not in his favour.  In and under contested footy is not him.  Missed 13 weeks due to his injury so getting him back on the park was a bonus. A full pre season ahead with extra gym work.

Congrats to Mitch White on a ripper game and the Norm Goss medal. Thoroughly deserved.

Also, I couldn't be happier for Jimmy Munro, deserved a flag for his years of effort.

I loved Kade Chandler's game too.

Terrible conditions for a tallish running rookie player today.  Wouldn't be placing much emphasis on how he's likely to go just on today.

Good summary, some great performances by the AFL listed guys. As for Munro, he had had more tackles than most players had possessions!

Have to say Weid played well. I am not a fan but credit where credit is due, he took on a much bigger opponent and at least broke even. He could possibly do that at senior level

I'm going off his whole season of VFL footy. Averaged 18 touches and nearly 2 goals a game. Always played with intent and the pressure we need. Should have been rewarded more often.

Ran all day and got into good defensive spots. It didn’t go to his wing. Great tank considering he was out for a lot of the season. Didn’t disgrace himself, the ball just didn’t get to him as he kept his width.

Really glad I braved the conditions, rejecting the temptation to stay in front of the fire and watch it on the telly, to see Casey win the flag. Well done boys!

Weeds looking good, milkshake classy and JVR, Turner, woewodin, and Laurie, promising.

We were among Southport supporters, who despite being unprepared for the artic conditions were great barrackers- passionate and mostly knowledgeable.

I went along to watch live. Turner definitely AFL ready. JvR has the necessary skills to play AFL next year.  - add strength as well.  He is very good close in contested situation goty the ball out a few times. Is mobile and can fly. Thrives on physical contact. He walked past us after the Presentation. TMc was right JvR is built like a Tank with a bit of zip. Another pre season and watch out.

Woey looks like he could be a good AFL player. Did some good things.

T Mc was at the presentation. Did anyone notice whether he seemed to be inured - foot???

Had a great day at Ikon park cheering on the boys today. Sat in the pavilion amongst the MFC players and coaches. Was terrific to see so many senior boys there. Despite inclement weather, and playing an interstate team in a state based competition 🤨, there was a good turnout.

JVR didn’t hit the scoreboard and it’s a terrible day for a KPF, but man can that kid hit a pack, leap, and back up at ground level. Loved what I saw in-person.

Kade Chandler (Chin) was absolutely superb. I was actually surprised he didn’t win the Goss medal.

Loved the goal from Taj Woewodin. Was some of the cleanest play all day.

Disco Turner looks ready to play in our backline next year.

There was a lot of love for Sauce Baker from the MFC boys, but I thought he continued to fail to execute with his disposal.

Jimmy Munro is a complete nut! Tough as nails and is so uncompromising. I wish an AFL club would give him a shot.

Melksham was very good. Glad for him to finish his career on a high. Maybe he will get a lifeline at a bottom AFL club.

Thought Joel Smith was very good in defence too. Particularly in the second half.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
