Overseas Dees - How are you watching the finals?

Recommended Posts

For our overseas supporters or those travelling, how do you plan on watching the final?

This thread can be a place to post looking for others to watch the game with, no matter where in the world you are!

To kick it off I'll be in Berlin for work, with a conveniently scheduled late flight, meaning I'll be free to watch the game during the day (1250pm local time).

Will any locally based supporters be meeting anywhere to watch it together? Or does anyone know any Berlin AFL haunts that show games so I'm not watching on my laptop in the hotel lobby?

I’ll still be in Europe as well, but I believe the game starts at 11.50am local/Euro time, not 12.50pm - wouldn’t want you to miss the first half!

You could try a regular Aussie hangout Belushi's on Rosa Luxemburg Strabe, but there's no guarantee they'll have the game on. You could ring beforehand.

Otherwise there are a heap of illegal streams that are very reliable. Send me a message and I can provide the best ones...

San Francisco Bay Area over here.

I'll watch it on the WatchAFL app and cast it to my TV - night games on the Australian East Coast mean 02:00 start times in California

Like @Hatchman, I use the Watch AFL app.  Specifically the version available on an Apple TV.  Works very well.

You receive a subscription with the international MFC membership, which is about the same price as a yearly subscription with watchafl.com.  But you get to support the club for the same price (I assume they get a discount on the subscription price).  You can also buy short-term weekly and final series packages subscriptions on the watchafl website.

We had a thread on this late last year if you're looking for more info:

P.S. I'll be watching from Nairobi on the odd chance there are any Dees fans here. We usually host a small GF party but currently only know of Hawks and North supporters.

Absolutely correct sorry. I'm currently in Parnu, Estonia, and forgot I'm an hour behind!

Am in Helsinki for 1st Final, fast streaming net and mad sports friends, Sudan for the Grand Final sadly, will use a diplomat mates house for the fast net there.

Watch AFL is ok, sometime the sound doesn’t run the same as the picture which can be frustrating.

I watched Collingwood in Lagos (Portugal), Carlton in Agadir (Morocco) until I literally had to leave four minutes before the end to get a 1pm pre-arranged taxi to the airport (where I was reconciling myself with a loss) and Brisbane in London, all through the Watch AFL app. Fortunately (from a watching perspective, not a lifestyle one), I’ll be back in Melbourne for the Sydney final.

If you are in Thailand, ABC Overseas show all AFL games on FTA if your lodgings can pick up that channel.

If in Pattaya, go to Tree Town area and Danny's Sports Bar. Plenty of big screens with cold beer and Danny is a good bloke.

For those of us in the UK it's either Watch AFL or the BT sports channel. There will be plenty of pubs in the cities who will screen it for the games that are on during opening hours. Early kick offs Australian time will be problematic.

I live in the countryside so I'll be watching from behind the sofa at home until we get ten goals in front.

I’ll be in Bali and will miss the game live ( by a day) and yes, thank goodness for the ABC coverage

Watching from the Japans using the WatchAFL app. I hook the PC up to the telly and it's no different from back in Oz.

I'd get Kayo but the app can detect VPNs apparently. Any Kayo users on here based OS? I'd also like to watch the NRL finals too.

I'm in Berlin too. I use the watchafl app (I share the costs with a pal in London and never been a problem watching concurrently).

Would be up for a meetup though, let us know if something pans out.

I'll be watching, like I always do, with my father in Hamburg on the watchafl.com website cast onto the Tv from my Laptop. Watched the grand final with one of my German mates last year and he loved it!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
