I am happy you are blessed with a body that is capable Dr. I am still passionate and pay my membership as  I have for most of the last 50 years. Does my inability to attend these night games when I will end up in level 4 which I cannot get to make me now redundant. I will have managed 3 games live this year. So on the basis of your comment I should not pay my membership for season 2023?

I’m pretty sure Dr. G’s comments weren’t directed at you, OD. He said, “if you can go to games like this and don’t…”.
It’s well understood that you and many others in your age group/state of health would love to attend but simply cannot
You are clearly a loyal and passionate supporter. And you’re by no means redundant. 💕

I hope you enjoy watching our boys make minced meat of the pies on TV!😁❤️💙

Goodwin mentioned on 360 last night that 85,000 to 90,000 was expected on Friday night.

He said the club was hoping for that. There is no chance it will get to 85.

anything above 70 is a win.

Haha.

Gotta love how people hear things so differently. One word is all it took.

Expected Vs hoping.

Changes everything.

It's strange that that is what you would take out of my comment. I said "if" you can go - obviously you are not in a circumstance which enables you to go. I know you'll be cheering us on on the tv though OD

Looks like 3 train lines are down.   So 90,000 will not happen

There will definitely be fights during and  especially after the game if pies lose. I wouldnt be taking any  kids. Men only night or maybe a few Frankston girls with tatts.

Only Frankston? How about girls with tatts from St Albans? Asking for a friend. 😁

I think it would be good to remember that in Round 19 2018 Richmond and Collingwood got 88K to 1st v 3rd. First time that both teams had been in premiership contention for decades and it was a perfect day.

For us to draw anywhere near that would be a miracle and we have a covid world to deal with.

My apologies as I did miss the " if".

No one from St Albans goes to the footy.

A top 4, round 21 clash against the hated pies. Next week Carlton with hopefully 3 finals at G soon after. This is what we've been waiting years for. Consecutive big in August/September games to look forward with hopefully a flag to celebrate at the end of it.

This is a great time to be alive. No excuses whatsoever for Melbourne based fans not getting along to G over this period

Actually, you’re right, OD. And it shall remain so unless and until nearby Ravenhall Correctional Facility grants day release on weekends/evenings. 😃

Think you were the last person Gonzo was referring to OD. Without putting words is his mouth we both probably know a heap of vibrant and energetic people who could easily go but choose to whiff it and watch on TV.

Ha ha, St Albans is now populated by mainly people of Asian and Indian origins. I sometimes catch the train on that line when going to the G see very few  fans of any club. On Broady line you see a lot of fans.

Random MCG Comment;

MCG fireworks to return after flammable cladding review

Wonder if we still have those fireworks that we were denied to use in Round 1.

Fire away lads!

Bit the bullet and booked ADL-MEL-PER. Expensive little side trip in the end but it’s worth it considering it’s the only game I’ve been able to make so far this year.

Been a while since i lived in OZ.

Bacchus Marsh used to cut up pretty feral in the 80 and 90's. See no reason why things would change.

If we get 75k+ for both the Carlton and Collingwood games we will get our highest average home attendance ever, despite Anzac eve and QB big freeze both being away games.
The narrative that Melbourne fans haven’t turned up this year is a myth, we haven’t had the huge upturn in crowds many have hoped for, partly due to COVID, but it has still been one of our best years ever. Even if we only get 40-50k for the next two games, it will still be in our top 4 best attendances ever! Hardly a disaster.

oh and I’ll be there, always am.

Not partly due to COVID. Wholly due to COVID. Anyone that thinks people are staying away because it's cold are kidding themselves. COVID is stopping many from going.

Yep - Covid is peaking for the year.

but we’ll be coming down from the slopes (of Daylesford) to watch this one. Should be a cracker.

I like the "Friday weather forecast... FIRE- moderate chance   .... really?  At the game?   NWind is interesting. unusual for August. that means there could be a strong advantage kicking to the punt rd end first.Might get a little drizzle. I'd definitely be going if in town.

Why wont filth supporters turn up on account of it being a Melb home game?  So what!  They had theirs on Queen Lizzy Birthday . Theyre 10-0. ffs What else are they going to do. Can you visit relatives and mates at Barwon Prison on Friday night?  I doubt it.

Only problem is late start at almost 8pm. Half the crowd will have drunk a skin full  waiting for the  bounce.   There will definitely be fights during and  especially after the game if pies lose. I wouldnt be taking any  kids. Men only night or maybe a few Frankston girls with tatts.

Gil Mc Lachlan is a clown.

Don’t be too harsh on the Pies, there’ll probably be fights even they win

you won’t regret it

Pity there are showered forecast. That will put a lot off. Should still get 60K I’d say

Here's hoping we play like last week! Shame I was too slow on trying to get a ticket with my barcode, could only upgrade to Level 4.

Still. Worth it.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
