D4life actually raises a terrific point about Spargs getting space by himself to receive and deliver (or line-'em-up) yet is being ignored by nearly all of his teammates. The 'long bomb' has significantly weakened our team and so many of our players still keep attempting to kick 'that one' that reaches a forward target successfully. Seldom, rarely, almost never occurs.

Spargs may well have kicked 20-30 goals in the 2022 season if the game plan had 'permitted' it to occur. This has to change. Jordan's effectiveness overall is commendable and his kicking to Spargs remains a vital cog in the wheel of deliberation. He can see the more frequent potential, knowing Spargs' is just about our best 'deliverer' and 'feeder of forwards'. It's game plan stuff, once again ... it is stuff that should be better rehearsed and exploited.

Might have to change this thread to "SPARGS THE MESSIAH!"

I just see Spargs, given a fairer shake of the sav by others in the team, as mighty similar (but a little slower) than a young bloke we once had tearing other teams apart - particularly up forward - Tricky Ricky we used to call him and the ginger beanpole did everything he could to get him into the play and off for a couple of mind-bending passes, receives and goals.

ay we're here for the trade rumours, not the depressing 2022 game plan lamentations

Yet when rumouring about trades in and out, we must consider the game planning, the talents we have and the opportunities that these possibilities may hold; otherwise, the trading is a waste of Far Ken's time.

I have heard Essendon have some interest in Tommlinson, and with that in mind i'd be having a look at Aaron Francis. we rated him highly in his draft year.

I think the reason i'd go for this is we'd clear Tommo's cap space which is significant, sign Francis for a much much smaller deal, and retain the key back depth while also getting a player who has talent, upside and may well benefit from a change of scenery.

Doubt we get anything in return for Tomlinson meaning we would need to trade for Francis, I’d expect Essendon as usual will ask for overs probably our first round pick.

Pretty sure he’s been desperate to get home since he got drafted. His upside (ok depth) doesn’t cover his downside for mine

Brenton Sanderson seems a loose canon.  His latest conjuring trick: "... believes a player like Cam Rayner, the 2017 number one draft pick, could get caught up in all the trade chaos – given Brisbane need draft points to match a potential rival bid for Ashcroft".

I didn't hear the trade radio session but going on the media report, he had no basis whatsoever, not even an 'I've heard ..." or "hypothetically' but throws a kids name out there.  I get the need for click bait and something to talk about this week but imv it is unfair on the player and family to indulge in such fabrications.

I heard it, sure caused a stir for no real reason. Really needed to prefice it with the word 'hypothetical'

He has shown good VFL form in the ruck and can kick goals.

While we all know his weaknesses he needs a fresh start and I really hope he finds one with more senior game opportunities than we can offer him.

I know he wants to go home, but you would think he would have to at least consider coming to us, over West Coast

West Coast don't stay down for long.  If they can get their list healthy they still have some really good players.

Anyone hear Matt Rendell on Trade Radio yesterday? He basically said there were fitness issues at WC and that a bunch of guys there were 'fat'. Then went on to name and shame. He's certainly of the old school!

I watched West Coast play this season. I don't need him to name and shame. My eyes very clearly showed me a bunch of overweight and unfit players. Nic Nat top of that list.

Like it's definitely true that a lot of their guys were probably a few kilos over where they needed to be, even guys like Gaff who were superior runners couldn't run out games at all. I just loved how eager he was to fat shame.

They certainly gave up on this season very easily and early.  No question that they were completely under prepared for the season. They will fix this, WCE expect to win and will do what is needed.

They started going downhill when in 2020 when some players treated the Qld hub resorts like holidays but that didn't stop  them whinging about being there.

Then they were bundled out of the finals very easily and it has all looked to hard them since.

As always, down hill skiers!!

MFC have ruled out trading Weideman.

Another rubbish story made by Tradio Radio!

They should stop throwing names around without any back up.

It is getting more and more embarrassing for them.

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The first round draft pick at #13 from twelve months ago the strongly built medium forward has had an impressive introduction to AFL football and is expected to spend more midfield moments as his career progresses. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
