POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Adelaide

It was rather odd to hear Ricciuto say Fogarty and Lever didn't like each other.  They were never team mates, in fact Fogarty was recruited with the pick Crows got for Lever.  And they would have only played against each other 2 or 3 times.  Odd.

And as for saying Lever 'got into' Fogarty for what was a gentle push to the shoulders, well Ricciuto has gone soft if he thinks that is 'getting into'.  It certainly didn't warrant the punch to the stomach from Fogarty in return.

Anyone else notice the friendly banter Walker and Lever were having after the game.  Maybe hatchets have been buried.

Crows have got Tex mania. He cavorts around like a big fairy, does encourage, kick goals, but can be run off and is not fit. That's why Lever and May would like playing off him and leave Petty to punch.

In fact half the Ad forward line is probably not much better.

Still very crook on this game umpires. The inconsistency was profound and was not haphazard but very disappointing that AFL umpires would stoop to being this low.

Lever recruiting! For the greater good!

First time they've played since we won the flag. Maybe Tex admitted he was wrong

And then he can berate Jacko for leaving for money over success. What could go wrong.

Good, gutsy effort. Our midfield is just mint. One of my favourite moments of the day was David King saying that Steven May needed to be dragged or taken off Walker. Gave me a good laugh, that did. Oh, and club record intercepts marks 👏

He kicked 2 goals for the day,  both from dubious free kicks.

The punch was higher, probably the ribs and would hurt at that instant.

If the AFL want umpires to be respected, make them full time professionals,  pay them properly and stop the constant rules changes.

The fact is though, it is easier and cheaper just to control what commentators and media say about them, all spin and no action, what Gil does best.

Gotta pay for Robbie Williams instead right?

Wherever it was it wasn't warranted.  Wouldn't be surprised to see Fogarty get a deserved fine:  deliberate, behind play.

What I particularly didn't like was a commentator saying Lever dropped too easily.  Sick of commentators making out our players stage when hit.  I reckon that is why Clarrie didn't get a free for the wallop across his head, umpires think he stages so doesn't get much protection.

I wonder if Fogartys punch on Lever or Clarry copping a forearm to the head will get cited ahead of Kozzys legitimate shoulder and arm into the ribs of a crow player early in the game.

Kozzie gave Butts one in the bread basket, but in play. We will see.

My assessment:

Kozzie's by far the lesser of the three:  was in play, careless, low force = Fine.

Fogarty: behind play, deliberate, medium force (I think Lever went off after it) = one match but it won't be rated as that,  More likely low impact so just a fine.

The forearm to Clarrie's head:  High contact , low/medium force = one match but mist likely a fine if at all.  No discussion on it in the media so MRO may just overlook it.

I wish someone would invent a machine that can reproduce such blows accurately and wheneever a commentator says a player dropped too easily they would have to take the same blow from the machine.  They'd shut up quick smart.

IMO Fogarty's act was the worst of the lot. Out of play, from behind Lever (so he didn't see it coming). Just a cheap assault to be honest.

If someone hit any one of us in the guts like that, from behind, while we were not prepared or expecting it, we would drop like a proverbial sack too.

I don't know why it is considered tough to take a punch off the ball.

Hey, LH could you see our Brownlow tally diminished across the board, would be interesting.

Impressive to keepCrows to only 10-5 with their ruck dominance and 2/3 goals from umpiring.

Demons all ground defence is terrific.

Great to see Langdon up and running again and Trac also back to his best with a few goals.

Very good win all things considered.

Maxy back in side for Cats is terrific.

Because the ‘commentators’ they choose to cough-up said nonsense honestly don’t know any better. Which sadly their employers know and love. We just need better commentators.

I'm not sure if it is across the board but I reckon Clarrie gets a raw deal from the umps.   Won the coaches award last year is well ahead so far this year.

Will be interesting how he fares this year in the Brownlow.

I think Lever was facing Fogarty but it was still unwarranted away from the field of play.

Great to see quite a lot of comment on the Umpiring out of that game which we won reasonably comfortably. I don't think it hurts the AFL to have some sort of post season enquiry into all things to do with loading on Umpires including that cartoon rubbish in slow motion that was hilarious.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
