Missed the first half - did Casey take their foot off the pedal for a break even second half?

Jimmy Munro seems like a ripping fella!

Dunstan. Again far too good for VFL but seems to lack that inch of pace and decision making at the highest level.  If he gets another AFL game, I’d hypnotize him and get him to go bull at a gate and bang it long when kicking.

I interpreted that as   "bombing it long onto the heads of our forwards " - whom seem to struggle with that mode of delivery...(as do all forwards across the league, due to zonal defence)

A strong team win.

Conditions did not favour skilful players.  Hard to take too much from the game on an individual basis. Hunt may have shaded Rivers and JVR is auditioning well for a forward spot in 2023. Weid okay but didn't excite.

Excellent goal accuracy..... If only it was contagious !!!!!!!!!!

The non AFL Casey players are perhaps not given the credit they deserve. They as a group are excellent.

I think Sparrow better have a good game or Dunstan will replace him

Bailey Laurie some class touches, great hands. Moniz-Wakefield lots of talent to build on. Same for JVR.

Maybe 2022 if Brown/sss don't pull the finger.

Nowhere near ready yet.

He attacks the contest hard...apart from Tommy Mac we have no one else that does & he's out for a while.

Dunstan BOG by a mile.
Weed & Laurie ok

JVR promising signs

Riv looked better

Bedford looked a class above at times but tried to do to much at times.
D.Smith, Woey, Wakefield developing well.

I thought that Hunt looked pretty good as well.!!

Moniz-Wakefield looks interesting.  I've seen him do some very nice things the last few weeks.  He needs to be more involved in games, which is not unusual for a young player, but there are flashes.  He nearly kicked an Eddie Betts-like goal from the pocket today that would have been insane if he hadn't almost put it out on the full.

6 Luke Dunstan

5 Jack Bell

4 James Munro

3 Trent Rivers

2 Toby Bedford

1 Bailey Laurie

Honourable mentions;

Basically the rest of the team in a very even overall performance.

Commentary;

Enjoyed the knowledgeable banter and good humour.

Adjudication;

Strictly black and white, umps seemed colour challenged.

Overall Comment;

Well coached , well drilled and too good

Played with Nightcliff in the AFLNT local comp. Shows definite promise. Coached in the junior ranks by that doyen of local underage coaches the legendary 'Scotty'. Watching this space with interest.

I have seen very little of him.  Regulars, is he another “small crumbing forward” like Kozzie, Spargo, Bedford, Chandler or something very different?  Thanks in anticipation.
PS is Laurie also in this group?

PS

How Bedford doesn't get a game has got me beat? Prefer him than BBB.

  • CASEY: Richmond

    The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
    Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

    It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
