FWIW . . . I have no idea if Cameron can coach or not. I do know this first hand though. There's been deep discontent within the playing group about the money some players are being paid relevant to their footy output. Or said another way, their highest paid players are not necessarily pulling their weight nor rowing in the same direction. There have been many peculiar management decisions at GWS. And as far as I know,  the most dysfunctional decisions didn't have Cameron's blessing. The organisation escapes deep scrutiny in Victoria because they are off-broadway.

If true it smacks of bigger issues.  They need better list management for a start.

A super coach can't fix those issues. But AFL will go with a big name for pure marketing reasons .

My fear is that after reading the list of possible candidates in todays Age, and excluding Clarkson who ruled himself out last night (IMO) unless he speaks with forked tounge, that Adem Yze would be best choice from that list , huge CV with us, years under Clarkson, etc.

He must stay with us.  If not good luck to him though. he deserves a spot as a senior coach.

Oh man, I love this!!

I love how the model is about social impact, rather than profit.

It's outstanding, and astounding.

You just know Sheeds will be in their ear to give the Golden Boy another chance. It's right up his sentimental avenue for HIrd to be rehabilitated. Plus, with GWS being a fairly small fish, the decision could fly under the radar to a much greater extent than if it happened in an AFL state.

That said, while he would be attracted to the sentimentality, most of the football world would be repulsed, shocked or angered (and rightfully so).

Is it just a coincidence that in the very year Hird goes to GWS, the team seriously underperforms and the coach resigns mid season?

Don't be surprised to see Cameron at Melbourne and Oooooz in Syd. in 2023.

No source EO . . . just hypothesising. Let's say Oooooz lands the Greater Waste of Resources job, we need a replacement. I'd certainly be ringing Cameron.

No thanks. Doesn't suit our culture IMO. Too much old school ra ra ra and anger. That's no small part why he's done at GWS.

Wouldn't mind Nathan Buckley getting a phone call IF Yze gets a senior gig, just listening to his speak i reckon he'd be a great asset in Yze's role

Have to wash my mouth out, but he's won me over a fair bit since becoming a full time media commentator.

If anyone watched the Amazon Series "making their mark" Leon Cameron came out of that looking like a fairly man manager to be honest.  I'm not surprised the giants haven't done better.

Could we get his head through the door.  Bucks might struggle not being head banana.

Remember Barass and Jordan both trying to coach from the bench?

Doesn't look like Bucks will be anywhere next year (although never say never of course).

Buckley will either be in TV or head coaching. Don’t think he will do a ‘senior assistant gig.’

Well someone’s got to, because the non-Essendon public think the guy still stinks of drugs, medical ambivalence and denial.

Yeah Hird as Coach with Bomber Thompson as his assistant. Dean Thompson to be performance Coach and last but not least - Stephen Dank as their Sports scientist .

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
