I know Trac is Trac, but seriously Oliver is just as good at what he does. His hands are the best in the game.

I’m just glad that both run around in the red & blue jumper.

In what way is 27 possessions with 13 contested a shocker? Pretty bewildered that 4 people liked this comment too.

Interesting that Jayden didn’t really figure much in the votes on here. Yet Ronny Lerner from the HS had him at 2nd BOG, as kindly pointed out by Fritta (below) 😁

I feel like reporting this post. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but if Oliver was 2nd best on ground - I know nothing about football.

Agree, no way Gawn was best on ground he wasn't even top 3.

I think he couldn’t tell the difference between Hunt and Langdon and then just gave both of them votes.

He was ok.  Not vote worthy in my opinion but he played alright. He went at 63% DE from 9 kicks and 18 handballs. 14 contested possessions.  His misses on goal were poor for a specialist forward and some of turnovers (9) were very poor.

Questioning my inclusion of him in my votes is more than reasonable it's the 'shocker' part I'm surprised by. Anyone who understands the way we play our game would see he played a huge part in our structure when he didn't have the footy. We locked the ball in our forward 50 for a lot of the game. We had to because we were so fricken awful with kicking accuracy. On many occasions when the Tigers could have rebounded we worked relentlessly to put pressure on their defensive ball carriers.

In games where you have essentially 'kicked yourself out of it' the only real way to win is with sheer hard work and pressure. ANB had 24 pressure acts, 24! Along with 27 possessions if that's seen as a shocker then I'd say we have a pretty darn good football team then!

True but find me a forward of ours that didn't miss set shots other than Weid last night.

Maybe just a note to DLers. Gawn is not featuring in top 3s to external people. Do objective votes and not just follow the leader.

Gawn wasn't listed in the best in the Age last week either and got 8 coaches votes.  I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Ronny Lerner's (HS) and Courtney Walsh's (the Age) of the world.

Oliver - in the best ever of Red and Blue, we are witnessing greatness.

Gawn - started on fire, and just kept going, 2nd best if not best game of his this year.

Petty - His best game in Red and Blue, I never thought he was going to become as good as he has. Kudos to all those that predicted it, hat off.

Brayshaw - flawless performance, wouldn't be surprised if he snuck a Brownlow vote

Langdon - Bit unfair, as Sparrow/Spargo/Harmes all did excellent defensive efforts.

Petracca - still had a great night, just because he wasn't BOG doesn't mean he should fall off the votes. Please don't take him for granted.

Hon mentions:

Weid - one more contested mark and I would have given him a vote, although I think when he kicked the 5th goal he showed his clutch ability, massive effort at 4.16

May - his efforts in the 4th when the game was in the bag demonstrates leadership, would dearly love to buy this man a beer.

Petracca? Sorry but he was well down.

I don't think any other specialist forwards have appeared in the votes.  But anyway, it's all in the eye of the beholder.  The only votes that matter at all are the coaches.  It's nice we all get a chance to have an opinion on Demonland and sometimes it's similar to the coaching panel, or the media and often it isn't.

Yeah to be honest I do regret leaving Gawn out of mine, I have been lauding ANB's effort but in hindsight he probably would have made way for Max.

That's what happens when you do your votes straight after the siren with a few frothies down the hatch..

Are you serious.  I always thought that voting was subjective based on opinions, personal assesments and favourites (see my vote for Spargo).  If it was objective all the votes would be the same and there would be no point in this thread.

To suggest that DLs are wrong in there voting leads to bullying and intimidation.  There are an infinite number of other threads on DL where you can do that.

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
