Brisbane flexing their muscles by crushing 18th, 17th & 15th on the ladder so far. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

It's their home game this year.

I think the difference is Carlton have underlying quality in their top 8-10, but fall away horribly from 16. They would have been a finals side last year with even a borderline competent coach.

Collingwood just have a very ordinary list.

The commentary team on Fox handing out the March Premiership to the Lions after dismantling last years wooden spooners.

Call me old fashion but I’m still preferring the one we won in September last year.

Oh Lord that was good. Even allowing that it was Geelong ... ahhhhhhhhhhh satisfaction. Now I hope the Pies win every game until QB.

Well,  it will, to paraphrase one of their loudmouthed, multichinned ex presidents, be their grand final.

I stand corrected. In that case, I hope the Pies lose every game for the rest of the year in exactly the same fashion as tonight.

Yep, faux tough guys. Then once September comes, they cack their dacks. Lost 5/6 finals for all their chest beating. Now there’s a team that drinks their own bath water.

Can North to go any further south?

Tassie?

Tassie deserve better.

What are the odds of Noble going around as coach next year? Sure he doesn’t have much to work with, but he is such a vanilla and boring coach.

Never mind, I already have my answer.

Casey...not the club...the weather station.

Meanwhile…………….an army of 4014 rocked up to see the franchises play today. Money well spent by the AFL there.

Does anyone outside of nth Melbourne really care or give a thought about them?

To be fair, I don’t care about or give a thought to 17 of the clubs in the AFL neither.

Lions are clear second favourite to win the flag so I guess a 108 pt win by them isn’t ideal for the other contenders such as us.

We must finish top 2 this year in order to avoid a GABBA prelim.

While I agree they are a strong chance, please let’s make absolutely 0 judgements on them based on smashing North Melbourne. I’ll be impressed when I see them win against a good side.
They play Geelong in Geelong next week. Let’s revisit this topic then shall we?

I actually think about a number of clubs ... my anger and dislike of them occupies large amounts of my thinking time. Is that normal? Especially the filth ... and the following (in no particular order) -  Jee-long, Richmond, Essendon (although less these days cos they're pretty hopeless), Footscray.

The dogs beat north by more last year and didn't even make top four. It's a long season, and I agree the Lions are my predicted GF opponent, but there's a lot of water to go under the bridge yet.

Just getting paranoid about Brisbane getting a ton of percentage over us, even if it’s early days.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

The Dees ran another clinic for the second week in a row as they easily accounted for the Tigers in the lightning interrupted shortened match at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
