That was the best i have seen a woman’s team play.
run and spread. On a big ground.
long handballs to someone in better position, not just getting rid of the ball.
These girls should go all the way after that. They need to take that same game into next week

Obliterate the oponent, whoever they are

Overjoyed with our win.

Very impressed with field kicking and the distances our girls were able to kick it.

Feel a bit sorry for Freo.  Hope we don't meet them in the finals - they will be out for revenge and are good enough to extract it.  But if we do it will be at Casey; our fortress!!

Absolutely the same LH. What great footy we played We can look very skilled away from Casey wind. The girls are looking like our AFL team so composed and confident.

It's very cruel when Covid  strikes and Freo have potentially had their season ruined which I feel a bit sorry for them. I am praying snd keeping my legs crossed we don't have last minute similar events. Got to say though our players are very disciplined and our Club  has managed both AFL and AFLW health snd player injury magnificently since the pandemic commenced in 2020. ( Joel Smith  aside is the only occurrence we can even point to and I guess the jury could be out on him).

Keep up the good work Perty and Co ( turn away Mach 5) and congrats also on IG being resigned until 2024.

Go Dees

The pies were down 2 rotations in the last. It made a difference

Adelaide starting to splutter. Lots of grunt but polish lacking past few weeks. They were not that impressive  today.

There's nothing in it percentage wise. Calm conditions next week and we bring our shooting boots, we're every chance of snatching top spot.

We play Carlton, Adelaide play St Kilda (although it is over here). We need another massive win to increase our percentage.

The Crows lost 20% today. they are not scoring heavily the past couple of weeks. The trajectory is in our favor. Having said that I watched the second half of the Carlton game this evening. They are in reasonable form so we can't be complacent

Just reading through the thread post game.

Not waking anything away from our great win.  Freo did not have their captain (also out last week) but lost their next 2 best players just before the game due to covid protocols (Called one players who was working on her uni assignment at the beach).  It was a training run at times for us as any side esp. in the AFLW losing top 3 really hurts, given the shallow depth of clubs.  In saying that you can only play against what they put up.

We should secure top 2 next week and that's great news going into the finals. Crows have got saints, so unless so dramatic happens they should retain top spot?

The ball movement in the protected stadium was great to see and showcased what the better sides can do.  The coaching team have got the group working together and its shows for the full 60 minutes (plus time on).

Yep, Weid needs to talk to Harris, she marks beautifully at full extension on the move and pressure.  She also pushes to get everything, though it does end up with on the ground at times which is not good.

Great to see the girls live and those records should stand for a bit.

Unquestionably all teams in AFLW rely very heavily on their best 5 - 6 players, so Fremantle being without Bowers and Antonio x 2 had a massive impact on the competitiveness of their group. They are a much better team than that, and will be a very dangerous opponent with a bunch of players back in time for the finals.

That said, this was clearly the best we have moved the football in the history of the competition and it was a joy to watch. The ability of smart players like Hanks to handpass to the advantage of a teammate running into space is incredible.

The size and width of Optus Stadium suited us, and the lack of wind helped us immensely. Our skills look a million times better playing in good conditions and, as good as our record at Casey Fields is, you wonder whether it is holding us back overall.

It has taken nine weeks but we finally have the right forward structure in place. We need to give Harris as much space as possible and try to prevent opposition teams from double and triple teaming her. If they are determined to push numbers back, we need to ensure that the likes of Pearce, Hore and Bannan are in dangerous positions and that we use them where possible. I also like Fitzsimon providing pressure at ground level, even if she doesn't get a lot of touches. Far better than Scott or Parry clogging up the forward 50 and not offering much of anything.

If we can avoid injury and illness, the only possible change in coming weeks would be another tall defender to come in against certain teams. Otherwise I think we have our best team settled. One more quality performance against Carlton and we have a genuine chance of finishing on top and reaping the benefits that come from this.

The ball movement was a class above anything I’ve seen in the AFLW.
Assuming the Demons will gain a lot of confidence from this performance, and build further momentum leading into the finals, have their best chance of winning a flag - Covid willing!

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. TRAINING: Wednesday 15th January 2025

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

    TRAINING: Monday 13th January 2025

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
