Yep, he did reflect on the joys and challenges of being a freelance writer.  Footy is footy but work is definitely w.o.r.k.

Excellent. I shall enjoy it even more, knowing a Bulldog helped put it all together…

Very Interested to know if Majak trained today!?

Seeing how it wasn't a "Labour of Love" it is very well done. Tell him he can do it again for us this year.

Mrs Dw loves it and I got to be in the good books for 30mins.

After watching highlights of the match sim, I am fearful for the well-being of other sides. Hopefully they can seek counsel from friends and family after playing us.

Careful, let’s stay humble.

I honestly cant remember a year since 2000 where there was so little Pre-season training news. Cold Turkey this year.

And, PF, we REALLY appreciate your reports and the effort you go to to bring them to us.  Just a pity there aren't a few more warriors down there who can help you out!

Again PF I appreciate all those who write reports especially if they negotiate some Joe Blake’s on the way.
long drive from here to Casey. And I would need to arrange the required permits.  Or I could keep going up to the Gold Coast,  or further.

all the track watchers. Keep it up! Cheers

It's not the travel, casey or the snakes.   Its the bloody fence.  You are so far from the action without any elevation and looking through a cyclone mesh fence, it's so difficult to make out players and especially those half way up the ground.  Half have tabbards on so you can't rely on numbers either.

The travel (for most) and the fence/distance is a huge deterrent.

I’m usually good for at least two pre season Training sessions but both those factors have kept me away.

The lockout and the MCG sized ground and better surface are the reasons we’re training there.

I’m pretty sure he had both last year. He has a premiership tattoo on his other ankle (not pictured) that would be new.

EDIT: The mountain is new ie: after the Grand Final

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

  • POSTGAME: Western Bulldogs

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
