Love that he invited the team to go back to back knowing how talented they are - he of all people would know what it takes! Suggestions that it should be called the Barassi Premiership Cup I support!

Much prefer the Cup to stand alone without attachment to someone’s name even the Great Man. Just dislike naming things after folks alive or dead. I know we have the Brownlow and the Norm Smith. The Brownlow has a rich history going back over a long time but dislike the idea of naming the Cup. It should speak to all supporters of all clubs in all States that play AFL.

The Cup is a timeless trophy even eternal and needs no attachment to material things or for that matter, human beings.

I hope that the 2021 Premiership Cup also gets to visit the following important Melbourne people:

1) Neale Daniher

2) Nathan Jones

3) The Stynes Family

4) The Flower Family

5) The Broadbridge Family

6) Dean Bailey's Family

7) Colin Sylvia's Family

8) Sean Wight's Family

Another suggestion, once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted is to allow a tour of Melbourne's 2021 AFL Premiership Cup (with selected Melbourne players) to schools in our heartland, the Casey region, regional Victoria and even Northern Territory. The reason for this is that it will inspire children that they can win a Premiership in the AFL and it will hopefully convince a lot of children to consider barracking for the Demons. We have missed out on generations of Melbourne supporters and having the AFL Premiership Cup visit a kid's school would definitely work wonders and could possibly have children jumping on the bandwagon to become Melbourne supporters.

I want every award named after Melbourne even the Daisy Peirce medal in the AFLW

He is looking good for a 85 year old, when older people watch games of clubs they support they tend to ride every bump, handball and kick.

When the team wins the premiership a tear comes in our eyes because we are relieved that they have achieved the holy grail and we are there to witness it even if it is only on TV or a replay.

Unfortunately my father and cousin did not live long enough to see the mighty "D" raise the cup again.

...and sounding good! I was worried on this score. The Hun article copy over on Post-game helped a bit but now I'm proper happy again, Ron, "...for you and for me"😉

Thanks for the OP @Demonland

I agree. Although, if it were to be done it would stop the possible alternative of a commercial sponsorship arrangement which may have it described as the "[Insert company name here] AFL Premiership Cup".

The question is: Does the AFL have the courage (or the budget flexibility) to withstand the huge financial offer which may come its way?

Very good point that I had not considered.

So glad Barass lived to see it. I heard his health and perception isn’t the best nowadays. Sadly Addams, Lord and even Crompton missed out.

I want to see the reaction of the 90+ fan that Max FaceTimed

    POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

Once again inaccuracy and inefficiency going inside 50 rears it's ugly head as the Demons suffered their second loss on the trot and their fourth loss in five games as they go down to the Pies by 38 points on Kings Birthday at the MCG.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

The Demons head back to Melbourne after an embarrassing loss to the Dockers to take on the Magpies at the MCG on Kings Birthday. With a calf injury to Lachie Hunter and Jacob van Rooyen possibly returning from injury who comes in and who goes out?
