Get onto Viney (Todd) and organise a leak that Norf will use one of their 1st two picks to net LJ if he nominates for the PSD. Then play hardball with Freo to get the picks we want plus another F2 for being [censored].

If Freo fail to provide adequate picks let LJ go through to the PSD. He’ll then sign a contract with us for another 2 years and we can then deal again next year.

I don't think we need to, i think North would be insane not to take him, even if he decided to leave after 1 year they're going to turn a pre season draft selection into at least 2 first round picks, plus Jackson is definitely going to make them better and they'd have to back themselves to get him to stay.

it's a no brainer from Norths perspective to take him

Even if he needs to stay in WA and doesn't play a single game for them, they're still going to be turning a nothing pick into at least one first rounder.

Him only signing 1 year after his initial contract was a red flag. Almost all draftees sign 2.

yes but many of us thought that it was his management saying that his next 2-3 year contract would be higher.

Most players max out contract wise in year 5.

We were badly blindsided

Well the idea would be for Norf to leak that they would before the draft so that LJ is compelled to sign with us and not take his chances in the PSD - Viney can make sure that happens. That way we avoid him thinking he’ll just walk into WC.

if WC trade pick 2 with Port there are half a dozen clubs that’ll take LJ anyway before he even gets a look in to WA.

So either Freo or WC trade with us fairly or LJ resigns for another 2.

Viney wouldn’t let that happen. That is screwing us royally.

And there is a very nice on baller that we could do a swap with too and fix up the picks later.

Only think making me feel slightly better about these negotiations so far is that dogs are getting shafted so much worse. 26 year old who just won their b&f and Brisbane aren't even offering a first for him.

If the Dunkley deal doesn't get done, does he go into the PSD as well?  And if so would North pick him ahead of LJ?  I think they would if they thought he was more chance of staying after one year.
That would bring WCE into the picture.

Not if WC deal pick 2 with Port.

Not sure if you're actually legit or not, but this is honestly the most bizarre thing I've read on this page.

In a big professional sporting organisation and you actually think this kind of weird wacked out scenario would actually exist?

Todd Viney works for, and is fully entrenched with the North Melbourne Football club and absolutely owes no favour whatsoever.

Well, to be fair to Brisbane, they did offer a first rounder and the Bulldogs knocked it back.

Oh well, if Fremantle aren't going to give us a fair deal we will simply go with what West Coast can offer.

As mischievous as it sounds I would love Todd Viney to cheekily say on trade radio that North Melbourne would gladly take Luke Jackson as pick 1# in the Pre-Season Draft if neither West Coast or Fremantle can work out a deal with Melbourne.

That will definitely upset them both and mean they will actually have to show "good faith" towards Melbourne. Anyway, the countdown clock is ticking....

I can guarantee you that half the stuff on DL is bizarre but I dont judge.

Maybe I’m being a little immature but we don’t have many options and have little bargaining power. We have to create some leverage. We can say that we want two top 10 picks but where does that even leave us?

All we need to do is create doubt in LJs management and Freos list management team . Viney doesn’t owe us anything - yes - but NMFC can do us a solid which they could cash in at a later time. Viney could defy help make that happen.

Only 15 for a b&f winner who is in his prime is just pure disrespect lol. And then trading it away for a few seconds. They're not even trying.

Still waiting for WC to make an offer. Lamb said he was going to have meetings with WC a couple days ago and no potential offer has come out of that. Even the proposed pick splits (2 --> 8 and ports F1) don't seem to help us at all.

Plenty of outgoing players too. Surely they could've factored this deal in when they were making their other trades? Instead the only thing of note they have from three players leaving is Norths PP2nd

They've done zip to improve their trade hand for Jackson.  And it looks like they never intended to.

Now are holding back on the Lobb and Meeks trades so they don't have more to add to their offer.

WC probably right to hold off on any offer.

MFC can eventually call Luke and tell him that Freo aren’t offering his value and he needs to visit WC to at least look around. No player wants to be undervalued by their club.

He goes in, WC take their best shot with their facilities and whatever players impress - tell him they’re offering pick 2.

Luke can still hang out with the Freo guys, go surfing, whatever, but the club that’s showing him proper respect is WC.

That’s how I’d play it anyway

Yup. It isn’t an inability to improve their offer, it is an unwillingness.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
