Just heard on SEN that LJ has advised west Coast he is not walking through to the PSD. Still wants Freo but will not screw over his old club.

Well if true there goes the threat.

Freo can just do the deal now that I have posted, by clearing Lobb to Dogs and they then have all the needed picks to get the deal done.

The Eagles, if serious, can put pick 2 on the table along with something else like their F1st and it’s done. Eagles need to stop screwing around with their threat of splitting 2 and giving us only one of the two picks they get.

I hope LJ has told the two clubs he will return to us if deal not done.

Doubtful it comes to that. Can we have LJ, Grundy and Gawn in the same team though?

Looks like Luke is going to do the right by us. Fair play.

The deal with west coast should be straight forward. Hopefully they don’t start playing silly buggers. Just get it done.

He will be traded. When both clubs are trying to do a deal, they usually find a way.

I’m legitimately amazed how deep people get into trade speculation.

Even if I blissfully bicycled around Amsterdam all day and hung out in coffee shops getting legally high, I reckon id still log onto demonland every hour in trade week to see if the dees had done any deals  Doubley so if someone legitimate posted a rumour about a key forward we've been linked to!

What's that quote "Wherever you go, there you are"

If West Coast had half a bit of serious interest then they would pony up and offer Pick 2 otherwise sod off and let the grown ups deal.

LJ wants to get to Freo and that is part of the problem. We have said we are happy to take the best offer, which ups the pressure on Freo.

Freo are frigging around as usual.

Best for us would be Eagles to offer pick 2 plus another pick and we tell Freo to ante up, or we accept Eagles offer.

WC Pick 2 and their second rounder is about right.

freo are hopeless. LJ needs to know we’re not going to be dicked around by them and be prepared to play for West Coast because Peter Bellend is a numptie

If no club in the top 5-8 picks is willing to trade and move down , Freo at least need at bare minimum to give us their pick 13, future 1st round (Freo) and future 2nd rd (NMFC).

Isn't Freo's problem they are trying to do a host of other trades without any picks. My impression is they are a kid in the candy store with only a penny to spend.

I love the analogy! So true!

I don't mind it tbh - We'll undoubtedly get to play the 6th placed team (Freo) twice, so we have a chance to give them 2 losses - it will go someways to helping us get a top 10 pick - I think they are underestimating the impact Mundys absence will have on their midfield, if they're not actively recruiting another midfield gun - and their defence has always been held together by tape, they're one Alex Pearce injury away from becoming a mid-table defence. And keeping Lobb against his will for another year to pair with the most subbed off player in the league, Mr Tabener? Ripe to fall down the ladder.

And North 2nd is guaranteed pick 19-20.

I genuinely don't understand why West Coast wouldn't just offer pick 2. outside arguably ashcroft, maybe, LJ is a better long term prospect for them than anyone in the draft by some distance.

and honestly the moment pick 2 hits the table, Freo are out of the game unless they offer a player, i think West Coast just thought they could sit back and play the PSD card

Beg to differ.

Really? Overrating draft picks are we, mate?

Reading the hypothetical trades here I think people are going to be very disappointed with the final outcome - WC 2 and F1st - you cannot be serious!

Jackson and OUR F1st for 2 and 26 is more likely than that. Maybe we could convert our F1st into a late 1st this year to keep WC in this year's 1st round.

I know it doesn't sound fair when we're losing a pick 3 who has shown the goods and two teams are competing for his services, but that's the way it is when players want out.

The Lever trade is the benchmark.

Because they only have to have a better deal than Freo.

Who do you have over Jackson in this draft? I don't think any of the top 5 possess his upside, Ashcroft included.

Would think it is in WC's best interest to play the trading game and make Freo honestly believe they are a chance. Float the prospect of pick 2 just to get the ball rolling.

I think pick 2 on its own would be acceptable. The Sheezle or The Cadillac would be massive long term talents in red and blue. But I cannot see any club with a top 5 pick trading it away, that's where the true talent is in this draft

Otherwise I fear Freo will just delay until the last minute and offer us way unders. 13 and their future 1st is pizz poor

No.

I think Jackson long term will be a talent. I just don't see him being the generational talent that everyone sees.

Career so far he's rated below average for hitouts won, hitouts to advantage, clearances and.

I think he has poor forward craft and gets lost quiet easily when resting down there which is where he'll spend time when rotating with Sean Darcy.

Ashcroft, Sheezel, Cadman Wardlaw I see being more natural footballers with more upside to be genuine game breakers.

Despite never having seen them play at AFL level and Jackson breaking the game open in a GF? We'll agree to disagree mate.

To be fair Dazzle, Dogga has been hampered by a knee injury for most of this year and he is still learning at 20. How many other 200cm big men have got to his level this early in their career? Very, very few

I think Freo's pitch to play him as a mid next to Darcy in the middle is an amazing possibility for them

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
