In terms of being a first ruck, I can't understand why Dogga would nominate Freo. He'd be behind Darcy, who is still young.

Jackson has not a single goddamn right to nominate a club. Wasn't he a West Coast fan growing up? Wasn't NicNat his hero?

How about he goes to West Coast and learns how to be an overweight ruckman from the most overrated player in the game. He can teach him how to have commentators falling over themselves when he has 3 possessions. And he can enjoy the pressure of living in WA and being a highly paid 'messiah'. That never went wrong for anyone. 
 

He does have the right to nominate a club, and it usually gets done. But there are no guarantees, of course.

If he wants to go and he's OOC, we don't hold many cards. It'd be different if he had a year or years left and wanted to move, eg Lachie Neale or Tom Papley

We get absolutely zero benefit out of this and get completely shafted.

Whether you like it or not Jackson is out of contract. The moment we he nominates Freo, that's exactly who we have to deal with. Players has more power now days then the actual club especially when out of contract and nominate a set club.

You can pretend to talk tough all you want but at the end of the day, the club (Melbourne) need to find the best possible deal it can to be satisfied. 

Name me one big out of contact player that nominated a club of choice but then was forced to be traded to another because it didn't suit the clubs set requirements. 

It doesn't happen now days.

But we do hold some cards.  He's wanted by both WA clubs to start with.   He might have a preference about which one he goes to(and that is only conjecture at this stage), but if he really wants to go back to Perth and he loves our club as he has consistently said he does, then he'll be open to going to the club that can get the deal done.

Firstly he is on record saying Nic Nat was his favourite player, which is super weird for a Freo fan... but ok.

Secondly that was clearly me trying to make people laugh. Nic Nat is overrated and overweight tho... just saying.

Not really, but I'd be hoping one of he or Briggs/Flynn (from GWS) is brought in.   We need someone that's had senior exposure and can handle themselves (all three have shown something).

I know Lobb is likely to leave Freo, but he and Jacko aren't like for like.  Lobb was recruited to play forward and he doesn't like playing ruck.  Jacko is a ruckman/mid.  Meek wouldn't be thrilled about the prospect and would have to consider his options. 

I'll be as disappointed as anyone if he decides to head home but he had no say in coming to our club and it's always a 50/50 proposition when you draft a kid from another state. He's helped us win a premiership and we've taught him a lot in his first two years of AFL football. We picked up Lingers from Fremantle because he wanted to come home. It happens. 

That said, the day he leaves he will be dead to me in a football sense. Much like Hogan. As a Melbourne supporter I'm only interested if you want to represent the oldest football club in the land.

I think it will all get done professionally no ifs or buts, but if a certain CEO of Freo starts to get clever there will be a little reminder that the club down the road hold all the picks that we desire.

That's all very well but it's pretty unsettling for your Club going into Finals with high expectations of being able to field a team full of goers.The relationship is quid pro quo, not one way and not meant to disrupt a club on the verge of relevance for the next ten years

Didn’t have a disposal in the second half last night. Million dollar players don't go an entire half without touching the ball when the whips are cracking.

Also, those saying the media circus doesn’t effect the players are wrong. There was a post on AFL Instagram account recently about Jackson, and Jake Bowey commented on it asking him to stay. If his team mates are publicly responding to that sort of stuff begging him to stay, then they no longer trust him.

Can’t be a successful team without buy in and trust.

But considering the angst on this site over the Lever and May deals I think there's a lot of unrealistic expectations of what's fair when it comes to trades.   Jackson is a best 22 blue sky prospect being offered lucrative long term contract by multiple clubs.  The trades will have to be commensurate with that.  The footy industry is pragmatic - there's no value in trying to low ball the club because what goes around comes around in footy.
