Who would've thought ...

"Demon premiership sees a resurgence in DVD player sales!"

Tried 2 JBHiFi stores, for the Full Season DvD. Dandenong and Fountain Gate both said New Release. Supposedly from the 1st of December.  Firstly Dandenong doesn't even stock DvDs or CDs anymore and Fountain Gate had none at their store. False Advertising at its finest. At least the lovely lady I spoke to pushed a few buttons on her device to show me Frankston supposedly has them. I better get it tomorrow or my Dad will make me watch the Granny Again.

Stuff this order on line, ventured into Sanity Rosebud and picked it up yesterday.Got last one but they are getting more in.

EXCELLENT PICKUP $144.95

The season highlights/bonus material - does any of that include extra footage of Chris Scott as the Cats go down the gurgler??

Finally got my collectors pack a few weeks ago. It's all presented very well and most things you would want but I'm a massive stickler for HD and quality playback and it seems this is all SD. Had a rough idea this would be the case but I thought they'd at least have the GF in Blu Ray.

I think it is great for people who aren't fussed about resolution but someone like me would expect this level when buying a physical disc these days.

Which leads me to the next question, if I want to watch this game again in HD how would you access it without internet? Or are the only options to go on the AFL site/have a Kayo subscription and pray they never take it down? Appreciate any advice.

I agree that this is quite disappointing. HD is now the staple format of sports. Most of the finals (GF for sure) would have been recorded in 4K too, but that footage will never see the light of day. I just don't get how FoxFooty and Ch 7 get away with this type of crap year after year. Perhaps they are asking for a premium for this level of quality footage, and hence, not profitable for the manufacturer to bother with.

Anyway, in answer to your question, Kayo would be the closest thing you'd get to HD access to the games from last year. But its a cheap man's version of HD (720p i think) at a pretty crappy frame rate as well.

You can buy a bluray copy of the GF. Kayos replays are terrible quality, they must downgrade the frame rate when they out the replays up, it's actually pathetic. Otherwise there are great quality versions available on specific unauthorised websites.

I've got the BluRay version and it is HD. My $99 Panasonic BluRay player handles it well.

The good thing about the GF is there are three other commentary choices to Brian Taylor. 😃

They certainly do. It has been the subject of much complaint by subscribers.

Who even has a dvd player these days. At the very least they could sell them on a thumb drive

I think I just have to do that Gonzo. For a guy who barely buys DVDs anymore I'm going to own two physical copies of this game haha *sigh*

The definition on Blu-ray is worth it.

One gripe with my BR copy is with the channel 7 audio for the 1st quarter. You can hear an echo from the ump’s mic and the crowd (but of course BT’s calling has no sound issue 🙄).

Good thing there’s other commentaries but it’s pretty lousy they can’t get a simple Blu-ray recording correct.

Also no pre-game or half-time entertainment which would have been a nice addition.

See that's the kind of stuff that would drive me bonkers. You pay premium dollar for something like this expecting premium value and it turns out you're just paying for defects.

Also just noticed the collector's pack is at JB for $40 which is over half the price I paid a few weeks ago! Don't know if this is an error but I am quite enraged now! Rage aside if you haven't got the collector's pack and were thinking of doing it , get it from JB now :)

To be honest the copies I managed to download (apparently in 1080p) are better than the Kayo, DVD or Bluray versions. And I was able to get every game for the season in this quality (not just the GF).

Personally I wouldn’t have minded if they’d cut out the Nat Edwards/Jack Viney stuff and just focussed of the individual games longer. I mean I remember the old season highlights birdies and they didn’t have all that. They were much better.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
