What articles have you read or vision have you seen from so-called experts that makes your blood boil?

There was an article by Garry Buckenara about the status of Melbourne's list not more than 12 months ago which makes me fume.

Melbourne is a team full of B-graders with only one player in the elite category, according to list guru Gary Buckenara. He reveals what the Demons must do to improve their squad in his expert analysis.

Garry Buckenara

The mere mention of his name makes me sick.

I wonder if he's had the strength of character to admit he was wrong.

pretty much everything he wrote has been proved completely wrong within 12 months. Well except for saying Big Benny Brown would be a good fit.

He was right with this "to find players that bring those four non-negotiable traits – skills, footy smarts, competitiveness and character." We didn't need to find them, we already had a list full of them :)

Not just fabulously wrong, but so sure he was right.
I’d also love to hear how other perennial ‘Dees haters’ feel about this premiership - Leigh Matthews, Mark Maclure, Mick Malthouse immediately spring to mind.
And how much I’d love a compilation of David King’s ignorant mis-readings of our qualities and our chances through the year. Mr. Weekly Reactionary himself.

Which he determined were just a bunch of ‘nice guys’ - prognostication tainted by an old and ignorant narrative.

That article is bad.

15m penalty!

Deliberate. 50 metres.

Salad dodger Brian Taylor hates us. You could hear the despise in his voice all year. Not sure he's come to terms with the win yet. (Either have I to be fair.)

I've been trying to find a similar article that's headline was "what do Melbourne stand for?" Pretty sure it was John Ralph who wrote it, but haven't been able to track it down. Was written after the dogs beat us in preseason and we had a huge amount of players out for that game.

It proves what I always said about Buckenara  that he would not know what a good team looks like unless it was Hawthorn.

He slamed players like Petracca Oliver May Lever Salem as B grade when both Oliver and Petracca had been All Australians.

He under estimated Tom Mac and Fritsch being forwards and failed to see the rise of Jackson Pickett and Rivers from the 1st year.

‘They have too many middle-of-the-road players who are role players but they won’t win you a premiership‘
Anyone that needs to be called a list guru (cough cough Wallace) is anything but

What the [censored] did I just read? 🤮

Meh. Plenty of articles said we would win the flag in 2019. Where's the thread for proving them wrong?

We all make comments and predictions that end up being way off, sadly we don't get paid for it here, but why not just enjoy the good vibes and the amazing team we now have rather than go digging up some space filler articles for hindsight bashing?

Hindsight & everything, but 12 months on he looks like a right dill. You could make a sound argument that we have the top 3 players in the entire competition (Gawn, Tracc, Oliver), 2 of whom are apparently 'B-graders'.

His analysis did not take into account injuries and players losing form at the very worst times in a season.

If you are going to do a critic then look at all aspects not tunnel vision.

Only concentrating on the positives and good vibes.
After 57 years, I didn’t “believe” until we were 62 points up

I read it as he was mis-interpreting his crystal ball. They key difference between this season and the past few is that now we are playing as a team and not a bunch of individuals that’s been a regular Melbourne failing. The talent was always there. Now everyone plays for each other and reaping the rewards. He fails to note that a champion team always beats a team of champions hands down. Being from Hawthorns golden era he should know better.

Some would read the article as how much we were able to turn the club around in 12 months. Most importantly don't let it trigger you Lord Nev

Buckenara's columns and list analysis are ghost written by Hun.

They are made deliberately provocative so punters like us can disagree with them.

This is part of the ‘good vibes’, Lord Nev. Processing the reasons we’ve stuck fat with this club involves looking at the opinions and analysis of those who have said we shouldn’t, or had no reason to. It’s an essential part of the reward for loyalty and belief - another jigsaw piece in the now complete picture of our investment and faith.

So true. I used to work for the paper before the Murdoch days. The philosophy is to always [censored] the horse from both ends to get it to move. Always try to get readers to stridently agree or disagree. Giving the rational middle road opinion  doesn’t work.

David King would have got it right at some stage during the year. I may be mistaken (not a word you'll hear from many working in the media, by the way) but King seems to adopt positive and negative views of every team throughout the year, depending on what snippet of Champion Data he is looking at in isolation. His approach is consistent with what a former boss of mine used to say - set your targets after you've seen where the arrows have landed.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
