Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'd like to see him go with Chapman, be it up forward or in the middle.

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but he has played on him in the past, with great effect hasn't he? I could've sworn Chapman's scalp was among the collection in his closet.

He has Chapmans scalp I believe.

Bell is a tough and speedy small/medium defender. He is one of the few players I have no worries with at the moment. He is finally over his OP it seems, and is growing in confidence and getting bigger jobs wit every match that passes. He is doing fine, and will be a good player for us. I'd leave him as a defender for the time being, with maybe a move into the midfield a few years down the track when Bruce, Green, Travis etc all retire and he is then a senior player. But for the time being, we have enough midfielders, and we need him down back. Pretty reliable. Anyone who says Williams carved him up yesterday wasnt watching. Williams carved Whelan up, and badly. Williams only kicked 1 goal when Bell moved onto him, and that came from a dubios free kick. Bell did a good job on him, jsut like he did in the NAB cup.

No concerns regarding his future.

It had to be said. Bell cops a heap of [censored] on this site. He is a solid player ,and his future looks bright.

Lay off bell (and lay off bate!!!)

Bell's probable taken the mantle of best small defender away from Whelan n deserves first crack.

Midfield however is a different kettle of fish. gets lost in the play. HB is his position.

If he gets a crack at Yablett Jnr or Chapman, which I assume he will, it will be very interesting to see how it goes. IMO the jury is still out on his decision making and reaction time (seems to be led to the ball). But if what everyone is saying is true and he works hard on the track, then full credit to him and I hope he continues from strength to strength.

I like Bell's run, determination, fierceness and kicking. I still worry about his decision-making, but he does seem to be improving. I'd like to see him play more side by side with his opponent, and then run off him more. But I have no doubt he will be a very good ordinary footballer for a long time - barring injury.

Belly.

Will take Chapman.

Will thrash him into the turf.

Will knock him unconscious.

With his wang.

Dapper Dan tell me your joking

you have to be kidding about Daniel Bell he has played 2 resonable games is 3 years talk about trying to make a star of an average player

l agree he has the makings of a good player but at the moment his decision making is poor so what if hes quick l can run fast too but he dosnt get the ball much does he Ive got nothing agaisnt the guy at all but you cannot be serious about ALL that rubbish you wrote about how good he is.

Any way good luck for sticking up for your love child you have every right

Well, except for that part about his wang, yes.

- He's played WELL more than the 2 reasonable games you describe there. And he's only gotten regular games since late last year. He took time to come on as a player, it's well known he's picked up a lot of confidence since his early years, and just because this is his fifth year on the list you think his achievements so far are less important? OP sucks, you know...

- At the moment his decision making is absolutely first rate mate. He's utterly swamped by guys smashing his face in every week, and during all this he's still able to hit up guys with 50 metre passes with little or no time to think. As I predicted, so far his decision making has not only come back to being within normal bounds, but is better than many of his mates, including Trav just at the minute.

- DOESN'T GET THE BALL MUCH!!! Number 21... Look for him on the field. He's the guy nullifying a small forward and still getting plenty of it himself. He's not playing in the guts for crying out loud, and he's not playing loose unaccountable footy like Ward. He's defending... playing ON a bloke AND launching forward forays...

- Love child? You betcha bottom dollar mate. And he should be yours too.

Yes DD, in the crud that is our season to date Daniel Bell is probably THE positive. The kids commitment and courage is second to none and I agree that his decision making in improving as is his awareness.

What a shame many of our other players don't take a leaf out of his book. Can you imagine Travis or Yze with Daniels endevour?

He's always given the hardest task (Chapman and Ablett yesterday) and he delivers. No player kicked a goal while Bell was on them yesterday.

On current form he is the teams best defender.

What amazes me is the posters that continue to bag Belly are also the ones calling for a "youth policy".

Go figure.

Excellent 31st game Belly. I look forward to many more.

Bell was the only person in the semi against freo last year that showed us pace. That's what lost us the game, our lack of pace. He is the next big thing. But i disagree with you saying miller is out of form. He has been one of our best in the first 3 weeks. He is excellent as he presents, gets the frees under the new hands in the back rule, can dish it off to a running player. His only trouble is his kick.

I love you Belly, seriously... I do!

It's great when your love- child from way back starts to come good and proves everyone wrong, especially given how much negative comments were made about him since his debut.

Every small defender in our side can learn from him at the moment. Getting involved in the play does not mean you have to be unaccountable. Good defenders do both, and Belly is a good defender.

did anyone else notice chapman hit bell behind the play? They were both running along the members side on the HFF bell tackled chapman they got up and had a bit of a push and a shove and then it looked like chapman hit bell in the side of the head. A couple of words were exchanged then they both ran off.

It looked like a proper punch from where i was sitting and me and my brother were thinking chapman might be given a couple of weeks, but no one else seems to be talking about it, or noticed it

Bell and Chris Johnson are the two that have been around for about 3 years now and will really excel. Jones is having a great season too...stats wise no one notices him but something like 8 tackles yesterday and last week..his pressure his phenomenal.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
