Beware the Instagram celebration....

Melbourne bar and restaurant owner Hayden Burbank and financial planner Mark Babbage have been arrested after allegedly entering Western Australia by falsely claiming to be Darwin residents and attending the AFL grand final.

The pair were taken into custody in WA’s south west region on Tuesday morning after police made a public plea to find them on Monday night.

A photo on the AFL’s Instagram account shows Mr Burbank, who owns Chapel Street venue Morris Jones, inside the Demons locker rooms celebrating and drinking with players after the club’s 57-year drought-breaking win at Optus Stadium on Saturday.

And there it is, the first post-flag controversy!

I filmed myself for the whole game, but that ain't seeing the light of day!

This one goes alright though. Caden MacDonald, professional footy nuffy but still pretty raw in his reactions:

Started supporting the Dees in 1960, was still only a young lad in 64. After that there was no joy until 1987 and after that there was partial success of making finals but it was always quickly snuffed out with one semi final loss or another. Even 2018 ended with a belting. So seeing unbridled joy on supporters faces after all that time is in itself a joy to behold. Just love it.

This is the first time since 1983 that we have a living premiership coach.

All the news coming out of the NRL over last 24 hours has made me think about our boys in Perth.

I hope they are having the time of their lives, but doing so sensibly and not getting involved in the WA party scene or into any compromising situations with the locals.

Nothing makes me happier or prouder to be a demons fan than to see the squad so thrilled to see us win the flag. Majak daw jumping up and down, never played a game. Chandler jumping into Lever’s arms after the siren. Just incredible. kudos to Goodwin for creating this amazing culture

you can’t help but think we have something special that we will continue.

Huddo's call of Olivers 3rd Q goal is spine tingling. Not for clever wordplay, but for just being a primal scream of Oliveeeeeeeeer with his voice wobbling/breaking

I'd make it my ringtone, but I don't want to have any accidents in public.

Sorry to be a pain but where can I find that again? Ie the grouped calls of that last 3 mins of the 3rd.

All good. It needed rewatching anyway!

Just started watching the replay for the first time...

Sparrow was fantastic in the first quarter, so impactful...

May was amazing for someone that new he couldn't move...

Petty is a rock of Gibraltar...

Pickett's pressure was immense, didn't matter that he didnt touch it

a good team would have won thst game by 734 points. It will come back to bite us

Funny I’m yet to see a post from them since the win…. Hhhgmmmm

Demons sell 3 seasons worth of merchandise in the months before GF including 10,000 road to GF T-shirts. Collingwood and Tigers only sold 1500 and 3000 of similar T-shirts in previous GF’s for comparison.

Also Channel 7 are very happy with us helping to them to their best ratings for the year as well as lots of finals series goals which translates to an advertising revenue bonanza for them. We will be prime time queens next season.

- Jake Bowey looks like a 14 old nerd burger

- Ben Brown is one cool dude.

- Gawn is absolutely cooked

And for anyone wondering that's Sharon Neal Bullen who's been lifted up on someone's shoulders. What a ****jng legend!

Ok, so from the 18 minutes to go when it was 13 points to WB to 11 minutes to go when Bont kicked another goal, we repelled so many entreies, this is where we won the game in my view.

Ah yes, light pole number 5, the 'Christian Petracca' light pole.

(How good is it to see that flag flying high at home)

Apologies for quoting myself.  I just wanted to elaborate on the above.

The Choco interview I was referring to is in this.  what-chocco-said-to-trac?  Choco's reflection on his 'whispering' to Petracca is in this article and starts @ 3.20.  Love Choco's cheeky expression when asked the question.

This is the fierce expression I'm referring to in the above post.  We then kicked 3 goals in less than a minute.  it was not long after Choco's 'whispering'.

Thanks to @Chookfor posting it in the favourite GF thread.

I think the answer you're looking for is here at 29:00 (sorry if it's been answered already!):

I remember when the Tigers were going to win the premiership because they'd won 3 out of 6 games and that was "right where they wanted to be!"

Remember when we peaked too early?

Remember when we were May champions?

Remember when we hadn't played anyone yet?

Remember when we finished top and won the bloody flag???!!!!!

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
