Just saw this appear on my feed good explanation of what went on at the centre bounce, this kind of stuff I find impossible to pickup in real time.

This is great analysis. Thanks

One note. The guy narrating is a bit slow/boring so suggest you increase the speed to 1.5X or 1.75X under settings....

100% it was not written by the fable singers in 1972.

Hundred and ten percent, Cassie!😉 I read somewhere that it was first sung by the team in 1912, and that Bluey Truscott wrote the '39 verse. I'm thinking they meant 'arranged' or probably 'performed' - 1972 was about the time technology would have allowed 'quality' broadcast at games and the VFL would have been jumping on it and getting 'official' versions for the purpose (such simple days...). I just included the entry verbatim to clarify 'old' was in the written lyrics, not just evident in the recording.

The more I watch it the more Angus stands out. Game of his life. Unflinching, played it like his last game, and when you think any game seriously could be his last, his courage was/is outstanding.
Just took hits, stood in holes, laid bumps, ran all [censored] day.
The mark speaks for itself. But I love the angles he runs in on like a cheeky bugger that makes the shot a whole lot easier.

Inspirational stuff.

Puts to shame all the posters on this site who wanted him gone, said he was no good, and brought him up as trade bait.

But then again, what's new.

Looked through that video, very forensic analysis of the centre square battle. My takes were Gawn just smashed the opposition rucks to set up our take aways in the 4th Q to put the game beyond doubt. In the 3rd Jackson managed to break even in the ruck contests but was able to follow up on the ground to great effect. And Viney was too strong inside for Treloar or Libba and was able to get the ball out to our receivers to devastating effect. And then we had 2 other bull, ball magnets in Tracc and Oliver. No team could stop that combo I believe.

The analyst showed how the dogs tried to counter the onslaught over the last 2 quarters but it was all futile.

Even HRH is celebrating

Damn. There’s no sound on this clip. Just imagine QE2 singing Simply The Best.
I received this from a friend in Qld and I’ve spent ages trying to work out how to post it on here. I’m halfway there. Just gotta work out why there’s no sound.

I like the idea of us having a rival.

Let's tell it like it is. Our rivalry with Collingwood hasn't really been relevant for 50 to 60 years. Even with us being strong now, the stars haven't aligned to make that rivalry meaningful for the time being due to them rebuilding.

The stuff about the song might be overrated but I do get the feeling there is some mutual dislike there.

Libba was carrying on like a faux tough guy and trash talker for most of the GF. In the round 20 match up, the sledge that Gus laid on Hannan about 'thinking about all those cold winter afternoons down at Casey' was pretty brutal, and Hannan proceeded to push him over. Mayzie also proceeded to iron out Hannan during the GF. Also let's not forget Watts' and Bugg's 'You ready?' Instagram post aimed at Johannisen.

Now the sailor moon buns have long gone someone has asked me at work if I’ve “come down” yet. Not by a long shot. The AFL may be moving on to new news, but to me it’s still all about the 2021 AFL premiership

Think that's just Libba!

That's the first I heard of that Gus sledge, no wonder there was some carry on. Glad we got the last laugh.

But agreed, it will be good to have rival. I didn't like some of the class divide that people tried to build up in the lead to the GF.

Whenever I thought about the GF in the 2weeks prior this is all I could see.
These boys smashing the "bat deeper' Bulldogs mids.
There was no way they were gonna cope with our power outta the middle.

Then I'd think about the backs.
Lever, May, Petty, Rivers, Hibberd were all gonna be too good for Naughton and Weightman.

Then I'd go and think about the forwards.
Brown, Fritta , Pickett, Tmac ...... Gawn.
Easten Wood and his no-name mates were never gonna stop those boys.

Wings .... Langers an Brayshaw relentlessly running up and down the ground.
Gawd ....

Then ANB, Sparrow, Harmes all chiming in.
We was never gonna lose.

My only surprise was the 2nd qtr.
Never saw that coming at all.

Did that really happen? Is this real? Am I dreaming?

I’m SO pleased to hear this! I wasn’t sure if it is ‘normal’ to still be in disbelief 11 days after the fact. At least twice a day I stop and think, ‘bloody hell, we actually won the flag!’ Or ‘WE are the reigning Premiers’ or similar. I don’t know how long this will continue, but I have a feeling it’s not gonna wane anytime soon. ❤️💙

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
