According to Pert and Richo talking to the crowd Gus copped a corky 2 days ago and isn't training.

I heard he left Monday training hobbling and someone said it could be a knee.
Didn’t want to say anything until the club did.
Phew 😮💨

Gee, I hope it's not the same bug that some Geelong players are reported to have had prior to the Prelim.

Not the best looking turf. I'm not suggesting it's dangerous, or anything like that, but I had visions of us training on immaculate grass. And are they irridescent mini-goal posts on the RHS of the picture? Quality.

Not much to report, they’ve broken up into 3?groups and rotated through drills.

Drills were based on transition footy, ground ball work and close congestion work. Pretty basic stuff with a focus on tomorrow being a full hit out

What looked like the mids group worked on transition from corridor turnovers when they were together. Defenders in that drill worked on transition from ground ball gets and intercepts. Forwards were very much working on ground ball wins finding space and converting.

All groups worked on one on one contests focused on breaking the initial tackle and also working your opponent off the footy.

There was also a drill working on short kicks on the 45 and quick ball movement between the arcs and on a wing

All finished now, more just turning the body over. Gus is out there walking around great to see Tomo involved in warm up and he did rehab after that.

While it's not great Gus couldn't train, you couldn't have asked for a better player to have chatting to the crowd.

On Instagram it looks like he doesn’t have any strapping on any part of his leg so I assume they’re being very precautionary.

On another note, we don’t ever have to worry about any of our boys jumping codes to the round ball game.

They played 2 soccer games as part of their warm up, talk about looking out of place. Good bit of fun for the group and sets a good tone for enthusiasm of nothing else

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
