Really?

She's been a club Director for 8 years so has a share of the ownership of the current status as much as anyone else.

Failure is an orphan, success has many parents. She qualifies in the latter.

Staying home to allow another, and most probably Pert, is a class decision on her part as Chair. Impressive.

(Juxtaposed to  Ed McGuire's attitude. I can hear his moaning already on tonights Footy Classified.)

Pert as leader of the Mgt team, and reporting to the board must be in Perth. (as should be water-boy/ PR/media manager extrordinaire Ben Gibson. Great seeing him get around the team after a goal. They clearly appreciate his off field work too.

I was thinking about this, I know he probably wouldn't be up for it, but any member of the previous successful era, starting with RDB31 should be given a ticket and some grace to be there. I would dearly love to see Ron hand over the Cup to Max.

RDB will unfurl the flag!

She. Offers. Nothing.

What the eff is up your you-know-what?

Not a fan of what the board did to Bartlett? Seriously, get it out of your system. It’s done.

I love how whenever someone (who claims to have mail) on here makes an outlandishly specific comment about someone at the club, they go into hiding and never respond to the replies and hysteria that inevitably eventuates as a result.

I mean are people really that desperate for clout that they have to resort to making posts like this? It’s just pathetic.

Nice bait from you mate, might wanna stop taking posting lessons from @Mach5 🤙

Would Kate Roffey actually be allowed to attend the game?

BTW I think she's done a fantastic job so far..

Was thinking the same DD. The club president is in no way essential to the team performing in a Preliminary or Grand Final and if based on the G2G application criteria would likely be rejected automatically without even being reviewed by a person. This said the AFL does have a different agreement with state governments so the criteria may be different.

While WA has been alot more strict re not allowing the players family members into the state I think this reflects a balanced approach where other non-residents cannot get into the state on compassionate grounds. Personally I would not want to travel interstate for a month without being able to bring my family. Compare this to Queensland where the NRL have brought large contingents into the state at a time a two week pause was put on its own residents returning to the state.

No major issue with Roffey here mate, just not a fan of Pert’s record or him trying to spin a lemon. Up to you.

Demonland, no need to get aggressive. What I have said is true. KR is the best Chair we could have at this time as the Boards main aim is to get the Andrew's Government support for our Social Club & Training Centre in the MCG precinct.

KR has little to offer except woke culture change (if you think this is a good thing) outside of her connection with Government.

KR is what we need to succeed in the most pressing long term issue for the club. Our home. Outside of this, she offers nothing. This is not a criticism. Like many on our team she is a role player.

That we will win a Premiership under her reign is her luck...... but god bless this luck if it gets Dan Andrew's to give us the land we want with some Government funding.

The Board has a very diverse set of commercial talents, networks, opinions and skills. This makes them great. At this moment KRs network is needed the most.

I would prefer our president to be in Perth right now. For what is a seriously important commercial opportunity should we get the chocolates. I love that our squad are all there bonding, but did we really need Austin Bradtke et al on the bus?

Truth? Nothing is more subjective.

If this is the bleating heart of a Bartlett acolyte; he was there long enough and his last year was inconsistent and strained especially with his comments toward Goodwin.

He had a great tenure from a long way back, the furthest way back, and while he got help from the AFL. We all will thank him for his service and hoping for the success of Kate IS NOT to diminish those in the past by comparison.

Only someone suffering from severe sour grapes would think that.

This has nothing to do with Bartlett.

KR was elected President with one ambition, one KPI.  That's is to use her close ties with the Andrew's Government to convince them to back our MGC precedent Social Club & Training facility.  If you ask KR she speaks openly that this is why she was elected and this is her mission. Her skill set and network outside of this is limited for a football club.

Good luck to her.

That is part of culture. All in together, not just the current side. We will get more out of all players being there, than Board members.

Thanks for this redleg, you beat me to it.

Imagine the benefits to young Bradtke being on the inside of the hub during the most important 2 weeks of the club's last 50 years.

The culture and camerardie he will absorb and lessons learned observing the preparation of the leaders and lesser lights  to keep for when his time comes.

To leave out list players like him would disintergrate parts of the culture.

Your'e judged by how well you treat the lowest ranked.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
