I used to enjoy the regular training reports posted to this site. Why have they disappeared? Is it because:

  1. We are required to train in private because of Covid rules? (Previously didn't seem to stop Picket Fence, though)
  2. We don't have any posters any more who attend training, even if it's allowed?
  3. We're winning so often now, that training reports have become passe?
  4. Any other reason?

Speaking for myself - it's a two to 2.5 hour round trip so yes to 2 above. And since we are not allowed in to the Casey oval and must peer through a chicken wire fence - the outer outer - it's less rewarding and I think there's less to be gained so yes to 1 above.

Partly covid restrictions, partly posters received lots of negativity and no longer post as much as a result.

And partly some posters got upset about different opinions.

I don't miss hearing " X player hurt his knee in marking contest, spoke to docs, walked slowly back to AAMI park. Hope it is not serious........' Then I proceed to stress unnecessarily for days until I hear the player is at training  2 days later.

Appreciate the reports but I am sleeping much better just waiting for the teams to drop on a Thursday night and assuming everyone is training like a champion.

Historically we never usually receive many training reports during the season. Occasionally we would receive the odd one here or there if someone happened to be passing Gosch's. Traditionally training reports have been more numerous during the preseason when people are craving content in the non-footy in the media parts of the year.

In the COVID era and since we've moved to Casey it has become harder for intrepid reporters to either make the long trip or gain access to view training properly.

I am stuck in Thailand and waiting for the borders to open.

I don’t want quarantine, unsafe putting well people near possibly infected, the associated cost and being stuck in a room.

Also waiting for airfares to drop in price, which will only happen when the borders are opened.

I am missing lots about Melbourne and MFC, including my regular walks down to Gosch's for a squizz.

Hoping to be back for preseason 2022.

I love training reports and particularly Saty's. I always think maybe we are a chance after reading them.

Now we're not getting them we're sitting on top and premiership favourites.

This year is highly discombobulating, isn't it?

Mind you, we're well into June and have only won one game this month which is not dissimilar to most years. It makes me nervous for the rest of the season!

Sorry Kev

the earliest for no quarantine from Thailand is April and even that is optimistic.

The zero crowd would metaphorically lynch any politician who got in front of the herd.

International students in January under some hybrid Hotel quarantine scheme is the best we can hope for.

Good luck in the land of smiles. I see the vaccines have just started to be rolled out. Slow I know but at least they have started.

Interesting to see how long the Phuket sandbox lasts.

(India jabbed 8.5M on Monday... their previous reord was 4.5M. If they can maintain 10M plus per day thorugh July and August that would be great.)

I think we can all assume the boys are training the house down. Majak has never been fitter and ready to go, Marty Hore is two or three weeks away whilst MBrown is knocking the door down and just awaiting an opportunity.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    TRAINING: Wednesday 11th December 2024

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
