Just had the misfortune of watching Saturday Countdown and Derm “jokingly” asked Brayshaw if Oliver throws it more than Tom Brady.

I don’t normally get upset about media but it just showed complete and utter disrespect for not only Oliver, but also Brayshaw and a team that is 11 and 1.

I dare say Derm wouldn’t have asked it to a player from a “big” club. It just feels like a lot of the media are having a hard team getting it through their head that we are the best right now.

Dermie is lazy and offers no insight whatsoever. I don’t know why Fox continue employing him. Champion player, dud analyst.

We shouldn’t get too precious about his comment though. Reality is Clayton throws a few just like most other midfielders in the league. Dermie spent the previous 15 mins of the segment praising us so let’s not feed this persecution complex many of us seem to harbour.

I’m cringing SO hard right now. Obvs Brereton has been waiting for an opportunity to use his absolutely hilarious Murali and Tom Brady barbs and what better time than with a Melbourne player. Has probs been practicing it in front of the mirror all season.

Seems Dees 2nd Half needs to stop skipping Leg Days.

I plead guilty thought at half time  its over  thought due for a down game   that it was only 2nd loss for year and then 2 nd half   very well played  and bowled  by the boys  and they are my boys.

To me, it was just more of a reflection of Derm and other people in the media having trouble accepting Melbourne are now good so he’s trying to deflect.

I am sick of the media.

Just read the report in the HSun. Said Zorko would be stiff to get suspended (for a deliberate elbow to TMac's head!) but Tom Sparrow would most likely go - which would be ridiculous - Sparrow turned his body around to shepherd the ball and Rich ran into his back!

Watched the replay, absolutely putrid umpiring.

At least 7 obvious push in the backs in the first half

Bs free to Charlie Cameron in the last 4m to go

8m to go a lions kick in and they had a runner in the 50m arc

Daniher spun 360 and the ball his the ground,  then he kicks,  play on.

And we hit the post 4 times.

Weid is a bust. Bring in sideshow bob

Agree with all but I thought the Charlie Cameron one was there although "tiggytouchwood". Fortunately ANB got it back straight away. Lions got 3-4 soft frees around the 4m mark.

It is easy to forget how good big Max is - he is putting together a career that puts him in the conversation about being the best ruckman in the history of the game.

I know Max will just put up with the way other teams treat him, but by God, the club really should bring this to the attention of the umpire dept and ask for clarification. Being smashed in the head week after week with not one free.

My dear mater made the good point that had Tomlinson not got injured, Petty might be looking at other options at the end of the year.

Geelong at the Graveyard Round 23. Bring. It. On.

Surely if we are top two or four and they are fighting for the four the game should not be played down there if crowds are allowed back by then. I can hear their protests but really that ground is not up to AFL standard. A better deal for away supporters is urgently required. A cat member told me a couple of years ago that only 200 seats were allocated for away supporters. PATHETIC.

SEN interview this morning.

He had no role last night and was simply quiet.

What do you mean he had no role? Every player has a role.

I actually agree with them. Zorko and Tmac was a bit of close off the ball by play from what I can see it did not seem to  affect Tmac. Free kick was the right decision end of story for mine.

Dermie is an old sad loser desperately trying to hang onto whatever tiny relevance he has left.
His “analysis” is about as in depth as a shallow pool of horse crap.

Of course every player has a small role to play. But how can you say he played his role when the coach clearly says otherwise.

When Goodwin says he wasn't given a specific role and was in fact quiet, then the coaching staff feel he wasn't up to the required standard they expected on the night.

I uavent heard the interview, but fair enough. I was simply going on what I watched. He's played a lot worse games than that and kept his spot.

It looks like he went to McCluggage in the second half to try and reduce his influence. Perhaps it was just by virtue of positioning rather than a set role.

Every one of those 'examples' he clearly handballs. Fair dinkum he is a .... up ...... Can't believe they pay him to comment on football

How about looking at how tbe dogs move the ball

Oliver's hands are very quick but that doesn't mean he's throwing it. Obviously too quick for Derm to pick up.

Angus handled that well, he's great on the podcast and a very smooth operator in media interviews.

Clarry will keep racking up brownlow votes and derm will keep eating meat pies and thats fine with me.

Clarry does have the fastest hands in the West...

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
