Sorry Lh, I'm not sure what your point is.

Are you arguing ATAGI did install completely unnecessary fear in the community by demonising AstraZeneca?

If so, let's agree to disagree and move on.

No, I didn't say that at all.  I said there have been many culprits and listed them.

Ok.

Still confused.

So, do you think ATAGI has been one of those culprits demonising AZ?

Your question that I answered was 'fear and demonising'.  ATAGI vacillating on age groups, have played a part in the fear.  Some of the culprits I listed spread the fear others did the demonising, some did both.

I'm sure readers are over this to and fro, so I'm out.

Grim tidings from Northern NSW, with a case - someone from Sydney it seems, but I am hearing about some from QLD who left QLD pre lockdown - out and about for quite a period, and not using the NSW QR system and now in hospital. Apparently he had two teenagers with him who are nowhere to be found. Can't say much else, but, really, can we have a Sydney ring of steel and travel permit system already? Jeez.

ATAGI played no role in creating fear.

ATAGI did not vacillate.

They adjusted their advice based on evidence as it came to hand.

And from the beginning made it clear their position was informed by the risk environment vis a vis the number of people infected by covid.

The scapegoating of ATAGI has been shameful.

Their advice needs the assistance of a PR person. They were naive in how their ‘adjustment of their advice’ would be perceived and utilised by people and politicians.

How about telling the country that there is greater risk of clots for half the population who take the pill than for AZ? Having a discussion about risk is not their job but it became the cudgel that bashed them sideways.

I empathise with your argument but ATAGI ‘unwittingly’ getting to where they are is somewhat fault of their actions.

This may have already been discussed earlier but it will be interesting to see which people are included in the crowd that is allowed at the GF. At best, it will be 50% capacity. We all know that corporates get the majority of GF tickets already. Will any club members get access to a ticket? Even those with a guaranteed ticket as part of their membership?

I haven't read the membership fine print but I know the guarantee used to have a condition of ...if MFC gets access to tickets, or something like that. Does the AFL take the money from corporates to help their bottom line at the expense of public outcry?

Firstly, it will be a miracle if the GF is at the MCG. We'll have to come out of lock down ASAP and no crowds will be allowed for the first 2 weekends after lockdown. And then hope for literally no further community transmission through late August and into September.

Secondly, you'd imagine a few guaranteed GF MFC members would miss out.

You'd have something like:

15,000 Competing clubs

 9,000 AFL members

11,000 MCC members

1,750 non competing clubs

2,500 Medallion Clubs

11,000 Corporates

Allow me to assist. Club members with GFG get priority allocation. If not at the MCG, no MCC members who aren't MFC members with a GFG. Non competing clubs, nope, sorry. Medallion, can't help you there either Medallion Club members. Corporates, chop those to absolute bare minimum.

It's like Kevin Kline in Dave :)

other than the non competing clubs which is probably one thousand or so light that sounds about right for a fifty thousand crowd.

Get ready however for a bit of guilting by the big corporates who may not wish to be seen taking away seats from those more deserving and of course we will get a frontline workers allocation

There might be a small crowd allowed for Geelong V Melbourne given that regional VIC will be 12 days out of lockdown, but as I mentioned earlier they prefer to wait two full weekends after lockdown.

Indeed we will.

No doubt Geelong will benefit again.
Being their home game a small crowd means all Geelong… and that’s if they even let people from metro Melbourne attend.

Things are getting serious up in Northern NSW.

Lockdown was announced in Byron Bay only 30 minutes ago and already stores have sold out of healing crystals.

See, there's the problem.

Peeps should have been buying their healing crystals months ago.

So much complacency.

The fairytale of going to a grand final parade, main training session and grand final is off the cards this year (if we make it)  I just can’t see the grand final being in Melbourne.
If we can’t travel and get to games then I hope Melbourne can organise some places for us to attend too (if we can by then) with large screens and at least can watch finals games with my fellow dees

As much as my footy dream is to be at the G with another 100,000+ fans and us holding the cup and roaming the streets celebrating this year, I’ll take a packed oval with my dees fans

I have it on very good authority that the entire resort in Joondalup (where teams have done their week of iso in WA) has been entirely booked out/reserved until the end of September.

Read into that what you will.
