As a long time supporter I watch Kozzie and marvel what a player he could be his stats are not only impressive they make for great reading.

His 2 seasons have been sensational for such a young player, 35 goals and 27 behinds means he had 62 opportunities to score meaning he had nearly 3 scoring shots per game as a small forward.

His tackle stats are elite.

I reckon he may have gone very close to winning the award but I would rather he just played in the 2021 premiership side along with others and emulated other indigenous players like Cyril Rioli, Daniel Rioli and Chris Johnson who are all 3 times premiership players.

If the voting is based on week by week performances and value to the side I’d probably go:

5. Georgiades

4. Green

3. McInerney

2. Schoenberg

1. Jackson

That’s not to say Jackson has been bad, we’ve just simply had a lot of games where we’ve played 2 rucks and 2 big forwards and limited his minutes and role.

If it’s based on upside and best ‘star’ performances then maybe:

5. Georgiades

4. Jackson

3. Green

2. Gulden

1. McInerney

If it’s pure upside then you can add Thilthorpe, Perkins, Cox, Jones and others.

green has been dropped on multiple occasions and missed games through injury also played in losing side more often than jackson so would definitely not be 2nd on week-by-week performances imo

Id predict the top three will be very consistent in the voting, then things will even out between about six players for the final two placings.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
