Deeoldfart 8,201 Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 Very sad. I will never forget Murray's clashes with RDB during our golden era. They were epic. Sympathies to Sam and the Weideman family. 7 Quote
DeeZone 10,590 Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Sympathies to Sam and the wider Weideman family, Murray was a true legend of the CFC and greater VFL community, a giant of the game. Glad that you got to spend a lot of quality time with your grandad Sam. His achievements still haunt a lot of Demonlanders. 4 Quote
Tim 3,545 Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 (edited) Born in the same month as RDB, and were great protagonists. I remember journo Michael Horan writing that as an 11yo the Weid took him to a game when he was captain. Parked the FJ in Johnston St, went into the Yarra Hotel and they both had a steak counter lunch; and 2 pots for the Weid. Then carry the Gladstone bag over to the changing rooms, preliminary to leading the Pies to another stirring home game win. Different days! Edited February 20, 2021 by Tim 8 1 Quote

nosoupforme 3,085 Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 My condolences to you Sam and your loved ones. Our thought are with you. Captained the 1958 Magpie Premiership team against the Dees . However he will be looking down on Sam and supporting him playing for the enemy with a grin. RIP. 4 Quote

Mydee 288 Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 (edited) A good friend of mine went to school with Murray Weideman. He roved to Murray at primary school, taught him everything he knew about football. On a more serious note he said that he was a genial person -in other words a good bloke. layzie 34,528 Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 Wanted to hate him after reading and hearing the stories of the 58 grand final but he was just such a lad. Always loved his story telling and just an all round good guy of the game. R.I.P 3 Quote
Willmoy1947 4,261 Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 I can remember some very funny interactions on World of Sport with Ron Casey and Lou Richards (Mr Weideman) All things pass.. 1 Quote
