If Tom McDonald could slim down and regain his previously elite endurance running capabilities, he could be the answer to the problem of who plays opposite Langdon on the other wing.

(Getting him to change his body shape was a horrible mistake.)

Cairns should be our new home ground. Wonderful place. Tropical paradise.

Not sure abut that elegt,.  Don't see him rated highly by anyone.

Dees supporters froth over lever. Think he's captain material.... the bloke has been average his whole career, spends more time guarding grass and all he can do is punch the ball

May we never play at the joint again!

3 losses there in the one month (one of them we didn’t play in but it knocked us out of the finals race)

We definitely got ripped off in that trade.

He better lift big time next season.

  • Oscar McDonald provided better value for the size of his contract than Lever. Ditto Frost.
  • I love Max Gawn, but gun ruckmen don't win premierships in the modern era.
  • I'll always believe Mahoney is clueless until he stops giving four and five year contracts to average footballers (and three year contracts to players with major injury concerns).
  • If you are less than 180cm tall, you'd better have some serious talent. We have three such players who have no place on an AFL list.
  • If you are less than 190cm tall and can't get a kick in two years at VFL level, you'll never get one at AFL level.
  • Weideman will never be a quality AFL forward, and I can't see him and Ben Brown working well in the same forward line.
  • Jackson will never be a quality AFL ruckman.
  • Tom McDonald is a better player than at least 2/3 of our current list.
  • Jetta should have retired.
  • Trading out future draft picks is the AFL equivalent of a ponzi scheme that will hurt us big time at some point - probably next year.

Jake Lever: 106 intercepts in 2020. Ranked 10th in the AFL.

Steven May ranked 34th, Michael Hibberd 80th, Christian Salem 95th.

So punching the ball isn't 'all he can do', although he ranks 10th for one percenters (May 9th), so he's still pretty good at it.

Unpopular opinion: I enjoy watching the modern game more than the games in the 80s.

There's more going on in the modern game, it's more contested, the pace is higher, the quality of the players is higher, the tactics go beyond 'ruckman behind the ball' or matchups, and the goals actually mean something.

Looking back at those old games .... it just looks like glorified circle work to me now.

Tom Scully has been unfairly maligned by the Dees faithful for long enough. I think it’s time to forgive and forget!

Mostly reasonable points apart from your opinions about the McDonald brothers. Even if they had more to offer physically they've both been mentally shot for 2 years.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
