Current list of delistings and retirements above. So far only two who would potentially interest me, pending on how we go in the trade period.

Shaun McKernan as ruck insurance for a year if we trade out Preuss. Probably a bit early to only have Jackson & Bradtke as ruck depth should Gawn go down, so McKernan could be of some cheap value here.

Marley Williams as a small defender. With Jetta seemingly on his last legs and the jury still out on Lockhart and Chandler as small defenders, I'm hoping we can find someone in the trade period. We missed out on Saad, but maybe we can get Jordan Clark from Geelong or Lachie Ash from GWS in a Preuss trade? If not, then Marley Williams could be worth a look. Provides run and is a clean kick of the footy. Not sure how he measures on the no d-heads policy, but sometimes you just need to take the best available.

Would take either Marley Williams or Jasper Pittard on cheap contract as defensive depth.

Nah to both especially McKernan makes Oscar look like a star.

Not sure whether we will entertain a Delisted Free Agent pick. None so far really standout.  Brandon Matera? Mason Wood? Marley Williams? Hardly showed the intensity in their games to warrant another chance despite their talent.

Dees might use 18,19,28 and 50 in the Draft and then add a further rookie pick 10.  (get list to 44).

Reckon if Andrew Phillips gets delisted we'll pick him up, but that could be about it.

Go to the draft with Picks 18, 19 and 28 and 1 live pick in the rookie draft. Though if we can package two of our first three National Picks together for a higher pick then we'll do that and take two rookies instead.

There have been suggestions that now we’re keeping Tom McDonald, we might not require an additional back up ruckman at the club.

Mahoney said this in an interview.

cedric cox requested a trade to WA and received no interest, wouldnt mind him for a year or two off HB even if he still pursues a move west after that.

ronke is still OOC too at the swans and could be an alternative small forward option for 1 yr see what he's got

eggmolese-smith is also ooc still at richmond and has done some nice things off hb there but its a hard side to crack, i guess he'd have his eye on houlis spot from next yr on

Matthew Parker takes my interest the most out of those available at the moment.

Surely Mason Wood gets another go somewhere.

I think Lewis Jetta would be a good fit for us.

Unless he sees his life in Melbourne after footy I wouldn't have Lewis Jetta for what is probably just 1 year.

Mason Wood might be the worst footballer in the AFL. If another club picks him up they should fold.

The MFC is not responsible for where Lewis Jetta sees his life after footy. He fits our needs and, if he were to join, we would pay him for his services.

So are you offering him a 2 year deal on good enough money to relocate his family?  Because I doubt he's coming for 1 year on minimum chips.

That would be in the negotiation. He is clearly on the edge at WCE, who are yet to offer a contract, and he would likely have to move to get a regular game of AFL.

My point is it is up to Jetta to consider if he wants to relocate, not the MFC. We need to look after ourselves. However, in saying that, we would be potentially attractive in that he would be a good fit for us and he has family playing at the club.

Billy Gowers would come close.

Wood has some talent. Can recall him kicking 4 goals against Sydney including the winning goal a couple of years back at the SCG, and he was too much for us to handle in a game against North in mid 2017 at the MCG (not the Hobart debacle that same year)

He may be the worst player in the league but he's not the least talented if that makes sense?

Would happily take Marley Williams or Pittard over a few on our list.

Really tough call but I'd probably just go Gowers over Wood because he has this local footy legend style about him I find endearing. Wood looks like he can run, jump, mark, kick and he showed a lot of promise up until Sydney offered him a big deal and from about that moment on he's lost the ability to do anything.

So would I but he sounds like he has off field issues (or at least he has in the past).

Very decent small defender.

Definitely would consider Pittard as a depth option. Really baffled he was among those let go.

Pittard is a bigger turnover merchant then Tmac, Tmac turns it over because he is trying  to do the impossible, pittard turns it over because he can't kick

He can move in with his cousin nev

Playing SFL is Marley.

People are muffed by the expectations of Petty for us (from many in D/L ) either in defence or attack saying pretty negative things about him!

But I am certainly extraordinarily and completely amazed by one or two D/L ers with a desire to recruit Marley Williams.

Not only dies that make it his third Club he butchers  the ball Even more than any one on our list but is rather error prone.

I would compare him even unfavourably with Josh Wagner!!!

Whats  SFL ??? anyway,

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
