Ah yes another tall defender, wonder who he'd replace in the squad or if they'd persist with Tomlinson down back.

He'd be a significant upgrade on OMac (I'm not a hater either), and allow May and Lever to do what they do best. At only 26, those 3 would form the best tall defensive unit in the league, plus we'd have Rivers, Salem and Hibberd for run/use and Lockhart and maybe Jetta as smalls. I don't think it's our most pressing need (speed and forward connection) but wouldn't say no as we don't have to give up any assets for him.

Agreed not most pressing - Upgrade fine provided the salary doesn't go overboard.

OMac and Smith, imagine one if not both may not be there next year - so there'd be a spot - Unless they throw Tmac back there again.

Seems we've put Tomlinson on relatively good coin and the best games he's played have been in the backline.

Not sure this should be our priority unless our next key forward is going to be Steven May. Another wing who can use the ball please!

Straight swap for Tomlinson?

But in all seriousness, what does that mean for Tomlinson? He's not a winger, I think the clubs aware of that, too.

Kyle Hartigan a UFA from Adelaide. 28yo and not in teams future. Works well with Lever as 2nd & 3rd talls. Free, cheap and we can focus our cap space and trades on more important needs. Put Tomlinson back on wing, he can work on his kicking over summer.

Now let's get another outside mid, kpf and small forward.

Hartigan is one of the worst backmen I've ever seen

Corr is the calibre of player you would be happy to get as a delisted free agent for a couple of years, but no way you would consider on a long term, big dollar contract.

Corr’s a dud. Pass

He's no superstar, but is more than handy. Just doesn't get a great run with injury. He'd be a great second key back and would allow May and Lever to do what they do best all the time, but I wouldn't pay a huge amount for him. I'm sure North will open the check book, but as a freebie and if he wanted a fair contract I'd happily take him.

Oh North. The gift that keeps on giving

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
