The cats blown away early but fought their way back to take control of the midfield shutdown Bont and Hunter and just lift their work rate across the ground. Gave the dogs no time or space to run and link up. Great coaching by Scott and effort by Danger and co! Wouldn’t hurt our boys and coaches to review how to shutdown a fast running team. Hard to tell on TV but was it as simple as Geelong going man on man after the first quarter to get the game into an arm wrestle?

Dogs were two down on the bench for the second half, which I'm sure hurt.

However it happened, that result helps us.

Dogs have to win out to get to 10. They have West Coast, Hawthorn and Fremantle. If they lose once more this year, they can't do better than 9 wins and we currently have 11% on them.

The fact that we're only a game behind them but we have two extra games to play really helps us. If we can somehow win tomorrow, we'll be so much closer to ensuring we finish the season above the Dogs. Will then only need to make sure we outpace Essendon and Carlton from there.

If the Dogs had won tonight, our path would have been significantly harder.

It looked like men on man to me Earl!

Every time a Dog got a sniff there were at least 3 Cats to cause a turnover. Bloody impressive. They'll take some beating if they can maintain that form.

I know it helped us with the dogs losing but gee I did want them to win. They did so well in that first quarter then barely kicked a goal after that.

Josh Bruce is a liability to the dogs. He does nothing and is a shocking kick for goal.

Typical, Wallis did nothing tonight.

? Oh well, top 4 and I get my money back. Could have been worse. Could have backed the Dees. At least I am a chance of getting my dough back.

Is there any chance Port might play an away game anytime soon?

Freo are  a sneaky chance vs GWS today.  A Freo-Demon double would be huge for our finals chances.

That's the one we need. Hopeful.

Two of their last three are away.

They'll finish the season with 7 games at the Adelaide Oval and 10 somewhere else.

Hardly complaint material.

Dogs impressing me so much I just put $50 on them at 20/1 for the flag.

What odds can you get now? Damn, football is a fickle and cruel mistress this year.

gotta say, i find the constant referencing to gambling odds on this forum a bit yuck

i have no trouble with people gambling, and i understand a lot of people love wagering, but given the dees' stance of 'love the game not the odds' i am not a huge fan of it

Giants are up and about.  Their A players seem very switched on.  At this rate they will build a decent %'age.

Hoping the dockers find their mojo, fast!

Terrible one side umpiring - all for the Giants.

Giants have a very winnable run home. They ooze class but cannot quite click... watch out if they do

If the Blues lose tomorrow you would fancy the giants to take the last spot in the 8.

It's certainly difficult on a forum like this to please everyone wwsw !

Can you believe that some posters complain about my smut and sexist remarks?

It's an odd world we live in.

Regardless of what you may think of Toby G. He is one tough player who gives his all and we could do with a few like him.

They just showed footage of Green giving the Freo guy a tummy tap/punch identical to the one Lynch got fined for 2 weeks ago.  Lets see how hypocritical the media are and if they go after Toby because he is a 'bad boy' of the comp.

GWS found their 2019 form today and beat Freo by 6 goals gaining a 5pt %'age boost.  They are now 8th with a %'age of 101.8.  Even if we win tonight they will be difficult to dislodge from the 8 as they have a slightly easier run home than us.

But if we do win tonight we might dislodge the Saints from the 8.  ?

They are out and will find it difficult to get back in.  But who knows, the last few spots are up for grabs.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
