I've been told Harmes is playing and now I'm not sure what to believe.

Maybe Harmes locked Fritsch in his room to free up a spot for himself

With Fritsch out who’s now going to kick all our behinds?

Plenty of candidates for that, dont worry BBP.

So according to SEN rumour mill and confirmed ins from the club we have the following

Out

Tmac

Harmes

Fritsch

Sparrow

In

Jones

Gawn

2 spots to fill, Rivers will get one, would like to see a pressure forward Bedford or Chandler get the other

Bennell? Class and pace.

With two fwd spots opening up Smith, Hunt and Bennell would have to be in the running.

Even if Preuss does play, maybe we still try a smaller forward line with Weid as the focus and Gawn mostly playing CHB when not rucking and have Preuss either on the bench or resting forward when he's not rucking. McEvoy was dominate early last night, but I think Max would make an even better backman than him, plus it would disrupt all the Saints planning. The other backs just have to be prepared to peel off their man if they try and drag him too deep.

Have mentioned here before, I believe Bennell is still being managed. He's a chance for next week, but more likely the Freo game.

I think he played in the scratch match today too, which would likely mean he's not being selected.

Sounds like Hunt is deserving of a call up from some of the reviews they posted of practice games.

Our main issue is the ball coming out of our forward line with no pressure.  Non of those three will change that.  Coaches rate Smith high and they might give him a go up forward, but I would rather see Bedford or Chandler, to give us 3 small forwards Spargo, Pickett and one of them to create pressure

I'm not his biggest fan, but that's pretty harsh on Hunt given he leads the Dees for tackles inside 50.

Hunt’s probably a logical replacement for Fritsch.

Fast on the lead and a good over head mark like Fritsch. And we get an upgrade in accuracy.

However Hunt has way less involvement than Fritsch, particularly in the marking department.

I'd like to know more about what happened to Fritsch before we all get stuck in.

But if he did something stupid I hope he learns his lesson. Could well cost us a finals spot.

If TMac is out, and we drop Preuss, then you'd imagine we must bring in Brown. If not, we'll likely be rucking Weideman when Gawn rests, and we can't afford to do that.

If Harmes is out, I will agree with that call, but I will question how Melksham survived being dropped all season.

I just don't see him as that high pressure forward, more a hit up forward.  Also we know what we get with Hunt, 1-2 games then out of the side, lets try someone different

The answer has been talked about here a long time. Favourites.

Hunt's issue is knowing how to use his speed, when he's marked on a lead it's been because he's already on the move. He's not explosive off the mark, like a Hawkins or Lynch, but explosive in motion, so the he has to always be on the move and they take off, then he should get clear enough to take some chest marks.

Yep that's fair. Think we needed to get a smaller quicker forward mix this week anyway, hoping Bedford comes in too.

I know, but I had considered Harmes to fall into the favourites category (along with Melksham and vandenBerg).

We've seen Goodwin drop Hibberd, Jetta, Jones and now Harmes this year. It's a trend towards ditching favourites and dropping players who are truly out of form. It's just a shame that trend never extended to Melksham.

Good points, If TMac is out surely it"s time to see what Brown can  bring otherwise who's our second key forward, it Certainly can't be Preuss

We also need Pickett and Spargo to have some influence on the game.

He told Harmes it was backline or nothing. It's just another example of Goodwin's stubbornness. Refuses to change things until it's too late.

Fritsch was late to training and dropped. Ok fair enough. vandenBerg did something just as un-Melbourne like with the undisciplined free after the siren that cost us a crucial goal, also gave away a couple of dumb 50s... Nothing.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
