Oh Ho Ho man just became another episode of the podcast. Dead-end? The pivotal clue?

Thanks for clarifying his moniker as the woo who man

I called him the yippee bloke.

Im sure i heard a yippee last night but it could have been the 4th bourban kicking in.

Anywho the guys a champion and Im glad he stuck it up the crows fans.

Please step forward sir.

Now that this woohoo guy has been pointed out to me its impossible to not notice him after every goal.  Gold.

I couldn’t hear the “Woo Hoo Man” but I certainly enjoyed watching those Goals again

Thanks :)

For the twitchers out there, his call sounds remarkably like a Southern Boobook

Love the idea Skuit, just spitballing some titles for what has the potential to be an deep diving and impactful podcast series:

From woo to hoo

How to woo a tough crowd

A woo-tiful life

Once were woo-riors

A will to woo

I hope some of these help

Saw a show on the ABC about him perhaps 6 months ago.. quite interesting, think it has been resolved now who he was.

Do some googling AF. It will be worth the effort. Somerton Man is probably now more well known outside of Australia than within.

Didn't catch it clearly from George's post but this confirms a first quarter woo-who.

Can't recall the industry term but nowadays in a high-end TV series you will tend to have one or two standalone episodes intended to bring the budget down. Usually a minor character study or some single location script. This will be that.

In the course of my research I just got a tonne of information on why we can never hear the questions in AFL post-match press conferences, and a reasonable explanation of why we suddenly can. A new side-mystery, maybe resolved.

First thing. It's not the AFL. The individual stadiums have AV contractors. The standard set up is two desk-mikes, one between the legs, and a mobile boom guy. A couple drop-down mikes would fix the problem, but at an unworthwhile expense.

This feed goes out to the radio. If you see mikes with radio logos set up on the desk these are just props. The leads go nowhere. The press room at AO is like a university auditorium. I always imagined it the size of an average lounge-room.

So the journalists are hugely spread out. It's almost impossible for the boom guy to get across to the question in time, especially when everyone is firing off questions until one is picked out.  The exception is when questions are staged in advance.

Another side mystery that could probably be easily resolved. My source mentioned a chubby channel 7 journo who all the coaches seriously hate. Has a tie or something. Anyway, they will get the camera and boom on him for prearranged questions.

Very simply - with Covid - there are now a fifth of the journalists in the press room. And they don't have to compete to get their questions across. So they just agree to take it in turns and the mobile boom guy is standing there in advance.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
