So the outcome has no relevance any more? A guy who uses his momentum (all 70kg and 171cm) brings down a 90kg and 193cm player and it is somehow deemed dangerous? The Brisbane player was stunned.... he got a free!! The more I see the less I like this game and where it's headed.

Congrats to Goodwin tonight for defending our players on AFL 360... not!  Goodwin better be saying other things behind closed doors because players can sense BS!

Before potting Goodwin, tell us what he was asked and what he said?

It was the sling tackle in the last quarter. The 3rd quarter was deemed a spear tackle.

Sling tackle was dangerous, the semi spear tackle shouldn’t have been a free

Was it?

The MRO statement refers to a tackle in the second quarter. The sling we're all talking about was in the fourth.

Brown on TF said should have been 1 week lol ,  no bias in there

Not sure if these vids work but both tackles were not dangerous in my opinion. Just the usual crap from biased, corrupt umpires:

Tackle 1 - 3rd quarter (I assume this was the one that copped the fine):

Tackle 2 - 4th quarter:

There is no way the 3rd quarter one should have been fined. It was perfect.  I can understand the 4th quarter one could be a "sling" tackle.

And serial offender Burgoyne gets off after sling tackling Rowbotham form the Swans

One rule for them..

Second one for sure, I thought he rolled him enough to avoid a free and certainly a sanction, but I understand the reasoning and he just needs to pull it back slightly.

First one is 100% a joke. Even Healy thought that and this is a guy that kept saying Jetta was leading with his head while picking the ball up.

Did he...ok good, thanks....didnt know.

the "dangerous tackle"/"spear tackle" was more of a hit/bump anyway

Love the aggression from Kozzie, even if he's given away a few free kicks (inc some downfield ones)

The MRO statement also said it was a tackle on Berry, that was the 4th quarter one.

I think maybe they just listed the wrong quarter.

it wasn't a spear tackle or even a semi-spear tackle

if you want to see a spear tackle go and look it up on youtube for nrl

wish everyone would stop calling it a spear tackle

it was the sort of front on tackle mumford does frequently and un-penalised. you'd think mumford would be more dangerous than little kozzie.

kozzie's so-called sling tackle was very marginal. surprised he got fined let alone paid a free-against (assuming this was the one he got fined for)

Really can't believe this decision as text book as it comes and he's 1k lighter,

f me.

Exactly right, he was in a stationary position, a spear is executed with a 3-5 meter run up.

Insanely stupid fine.

nothing to do with 3-5m run up

a spear tackle is where player being tackled is lifted off the ground (generally above the horizontal) and then head/shoulders slammed into the turf.

nothing even remotely what kozzie did, tackling player front on then driving him backwards onto his rrrs

it was a textbook great tackle and he should be applauded for it

i'm not familiar with wwe, so i looked it up.......and yes, i see what you mean :)

"spear tackle" terminology in football i believe originated in rugby (both union and league) and here it is where the one tackled is lifted, turned upside down (to some degree, usually greater than the horizontal), then dropped or driven (like "spear") to the ground. A very, very dangerous tackle which can lead to concussion, broken neck or paralysis. this obviously is very different to the term used in wwe

Big John Ironmonger demonstrating a textbook spear tackle...

I love his aggression but he has a habit (like a lot of chasing smalls) to shove the player after they’ve kicked the ball. That’s completely pointless and gives them the ball for free downfield. Go the tackle or bump because both will panic them the next time, a shove isn’t going to do anything.

Well seeing how I watched it then I'm within my rights to have an opinion. How about you go watch it!

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
