The Demons have used 32 players in a search for their best form, which is beginning to emerge. There are still 13 footballers yet to appear at senior level, headlined by Marty Hore, Tom Sparrow, James Jordon, Harry Petty, Braydon Preuss and Kade Kolodjashnij. Only young midfielders Sparrow (two games last year) and Jordon haven't experienced a long-term injury this season out of that group. Melbourne's onball rotation is a tough nut to crack but the pair might get a look during the truncated fixture ahead. Austin Bradtke, son of basketball great Mark, has made strides with his development this year, while the Wagner brothers, Josh and Corey, have shown they can play at AFL level. - Marc McGowan

Of those listed I'd love to see Sparrow and Jordon get a game during the compacted rounds. Bedford with 1 game in 2020 might get a call up if they rest Kozzy. They omitted Oskar Baker from the list.'

Who would you like to see play in 2020?

Depending on list sizes next year, of the players mentioned at other clubs I think Allen Christensen can play and it's no big knock being behind Charlie Cameron and Cam Rayner.  As someone noted elsewhere Alex Witherden is struggling for a game behind Grant Birchall - he'd be worth a look.  I like Zac Fisher at Carlton - I know he's small framed and that counts against him - but he's a goer and has pace.

The strong sides often take the opportunity to blood new players in games against lowly sides and so, with due respect to Adelaide, that might be the game for James Jordon to debut.

We won't be resting players so it will be hard to see Jordon or Sparrow playing anytime soon. Jones, Rivers, Neal-Bullen and Tomlinson are all in front of them.

We don't need any rejects we should head to the draft for running half backs\wingman. Daniher is the only one I would have considered but now that Weideman has found form we don't need him.

Yep, I'd go for Fisher. There's a bit of a knock on his defensive game, but could be another good wingman back up and play forward if need.

Looking forward to seeing what Jordon can offer. One of my mates coached him at Caulfield Grammar and has big wraps on him.

Allen Christensen won't be coming back to reside in Victoria anytime soon.

Hoping to see Jordon and Sparrow get a run in the next 3-4 games. Definitely think Sparrow is one to give a chance to show his ability. Maybe rotate Sparrow into our midfield in the Crows game in Adelaide.

Of that lot, Petty, who I rate, is out for the year and Bradtke is very much in development. I'd also like to see Sparrow and Jordon get a run at some stage. Not much interest in the rest

Preuss is one I'd like to see get a look in towards the end of the season. Just to remind the rest of the league that he exists. Then sell him to the highest bidder. Essendon, Geelong & GWS all spring to mind as teams crying out for a first ruck. I wonder what they'd offer for big Brayden.

We don't need to gift youngsters games these days. Jones, Tomlinson, Rivers and ANB all in front of them they will have to bid their time maybe for another year.

An injury plagued Bomber who can’t get on the field - no, thanks.

I don't think we're at that level yet where we can go in complacent against anyone. We've still only won 8 of our last 29 games.

And Adelaide will win a game or 3 this year. They were only 9 or so points down to St kIlda half way through the last quarter last week.

Beat both of Brisbane and Port and we might have that luxury of resting players and/or blooding kids.

We haven’t seen them for a reason.  Injured, developing, depth or others in front of them.  With so many injuries last year, more got a look in when perhaps they were not ready.  Now we are in a good spot, these guys need to prove they deserve a spot.

also, on drafting guys who don’t get a game elsewhere, why the fascination with other’s junk?  If Petty and Neiter get back, it will be like a draft scoop anyway.

This gives me the opportunity to ask, “ what is the situation re Koladjashnij?” He was suffering from concussion quite early last year. Has he been able to train at all this year? Is he in the gym?  I have every sympathy for him, and he can be a very capable player but is it time to bring the situation to a head , perhaps pay out his contract and open up a place on the list

If playing lists are to shrink next year as anticipated, should he retire (however it's described), it would just mean one fewer player from the remainder who also has to leave. In other words, I wouldn't expect an early departure to "open up a place on the list" for another player.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
