They probably would @Lord Nev - they know that Goodwin has favourites, what would I know? ?

Anyway, context matters.

No changes?

Why mess with perfection!?

That is the complete opposite of what happened.

Thought this was an interesting chart re: Lever.

Just wait until he gets 2.3 more spoils/intercepts a match, channel 7 will FAAAAWN over him like Rance.

AVB keeps his spot. But Bennell gets dropped after one game. And then doesn't get a recall after a 4 goal reserves hitout. fmd.

No second tall forward again.

I'm not convinced that's the right call. I seriously hope Sunday shows me that this can work.

Its my only minor problem with selection. I do think we need that extra tall in the side to complement T Mac.

Otherwise the side is fine. We can moan about no Bennell all we like, but it ain't changing much.

It’s gonna be wet so perhaps that’s why?

That could be it - although it wasn't wet last week.

I really hope it isn't too wet...we will get annihilated if it is

Richmond aren't annihilating anyone but Adelaide right now. ?

Let's be real. We'll be in it up to our necks but ultimately fall away in the last, it's the slow burn 2 season long form of "annihilation"

Ahh, well, we've all lived it for 40 years (give or take 20, depending on where you are at). I love the tease this team gives. Just the pure [censored] tease of it all.

Nothing more nihilistic than being a Melbourne supporter.

As Badly Drawn Boy once sang. "The joy is not the same without the pain".

We are hopeless in the wet without Dom Tyson

Wow... but that doesn't support the theories that we paid overs for Lever and he sucks....

When I saw who they brought into the squad I had a feeling no change was possible. I think they’re trying to settle on a team to give them confidence.

But I still am really unconvinced about our structure going forward, especially the way that we play. Are we now playing Petracca forward? Wasn’t a big thing about this year going to be seeing Petracca given more time in the middle?

I think our forward line is too small/medium, maybe it needs time to click, but I’m running out of patience.

Melksham is very lucky. I am a fan but his half efforts this year have been disgusting

I think the wet might suit us now more than in the past for Petracca, Viney and a smaller forward line or Kozi. As long as we exhibit 'learnings' and tap it on. I'm more afraid of a dry WA like deck and letting the opposition showcase their rebounding keepings off skill

How long has it been since we have gone unchanged?  I’m not sure I can remember when we last did.

No goals coming up again. We don’t have mids to kick goals. A midget forward line all out of from and a key forward who hasn’t fired a shot since the Carlton match last year

100% with you. My personal choice would have been to drop Melks, put Fritta/Hannan is his role and have Brown at FF.

These unchanged selections give me a bit more confidence of a win plus the Tigers outs are a help. More so if it is going to be wet. AVB and Bennell bring very different skill sets to the team. AVB 's aggression and bash and crash at the contest will be more help against the Tigers than a delicate outside runner that can only play half a game. Both are good enough and against other teams this selection may go the other way. It took AVB a couple of games after a long injury break to hit his straps but he was soon amongst our best.

I think we're all just weary of Bennell getting the Garlett treatment. In and out all year because of fitness or defensive issues, but still kicking 1-2 goals a game and setting up a few others. If the season starts slipping away, then we might look back on r5-7 as a block of games we needed someone like him in. If he comes in later in round 8 or so, has a big impact but we're so far back that it's just an exercise in preparing for 2021, well what a waste.

Hoping it's only weather related and he's in next week.

LOL. I see what you did there but I'm not taking the bait JD.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
