    If we don't have a report from Saty, I'm not even sure that training has happened. How do we know these reports aren't made up, just like the moon landing?

    no criticism of you and much appreciated. Just missing the objectivity and detail we have become used to in comparison to the puff coverage from the club (mind you I would expect little else)

    Unfortunately I think it will be a long time, perhaps years, until the general public will be allowed to attend training sessions. All sessions will most likely be "closed" sessions even when they return to the publicly open fields at Gosch's Paddock.

    I was wondering if we were the only club whose principal training ground was not capable of being closed off from the public.

    North at Arden street sprung to mind.A long time since I've been down that way.

    The ability to close the oval is perhaps going to be a problem with any redevelopment of Gosch's paddock

    Fans will be able attend training this year.

    Outbreaks will occur but the pattern is clear in Australia (and elsewhere now) that they will be in clusters. And these clusters will all be related to people sharing indoor spaces for more than 30-60 minutes. Like offices.

    Outdoor things like attendng footy training are very low risk. 

    Once the last stages of the current restrictions are lifted in vic (likely mid july) then going to training will be fine (probably will be before then, arguably is now).

    I have little doubt we will be able to go to games before seasons end. So training won't be an issue.

    I'm pretty sure Whitten Oval is open to the public. It was part of the deal whereby the State and Federal Governments agreed to provide funding. Other parts of that deal included providing space for Victoria University, a childcare centre and removing pokies from the old grandstand.

    I still think (my opinion) the clubs (MFC in this instance)  will mark any sessions at Gosch's, even after restrictions have been lifted, as closed sessions. 

    While they can train at Casey where they can bar entrance they will continue to train there. 

    Eventually they will have to go back to Gosch's so that they can utilise the facilities at AAMI Park in tandem with footy training on Gosch's. Once this happens I still believe they will be closed sessions.

    It would be nice to swing by Goschs at some stage this year to have a look at the boys but according to Goody in the ‘Ask The Coach’ clip Casey without doubt will remain as the base for the remainder of the season. He says we are too restricted this season with the other clubs such as Storm and Victory at AAMI.

    From a financial point clubs and the AFL can’t have an outbreak and the season shut down again, I think you might be right  Andy.

    Melb will be at Casey all year. Sharing the facility with 3 other sporting teams will see Casey used all season.

    We might also need to undertake some welfare checks to ensure Saty, DeeSpencer, George on the Outer and all the others on whom we depend are OK.

    You're probably right - session will be closed to the public. Despite it being unnecessary. 

    An opportunity for the club to put some good video content up on the website. All they need to do is have have raw footage and it will be watched. Look at ho many views that AFL fella gets (can't recall his name).

    Perhaps i can write some fictional accounts of training. Omac might feature heavily.

    I'm not so sure about that.  The potential losses for any club if one single player comes down with the virus, could be enormous, and I'm not sure any club will want to be taking that risk by allowing supporters to attend training sessions.  And with a vaccine possibly unlikely to be available until late next year (or beyond), then we had better get used to closed training sessions. 

    At least at games, they can control how close to the grounds supporters can be (possibly only allow crowds in the second tier and up in stadiums), and stadium security can also form a barrier between players and potential supporter incursions.  There will definitely be no supporters allowed anywhere near the players race (imagine if the Toigs or Bummers started performing badly and those ferals returned to their old habit of spitting on players).

      There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

      I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start.
