Don't want to start a new thread, but have just heard from a source that one of our players is in quarantine....

If that were true, he would be currently being tested, and it would be huge news. I know for sure McClure or Morris would be desperate to name names the way they did with the Freo player.

Yes, massive interest indeed! Maybe it'll come out soon.

The person heard from the player's partner, who they work with. I'm just just the messenger!

I think we need to be careful about this sort of information but quarantine implies has the virus (which is unlikely) whilst a lot of people are self isolating if they have any flu or cold like symptoms. No doubt any player with a cough or sniffle will be asked to stay away from the group for now.

Possibly that, R57 and agree we need to be careful around misinformation. Just passing on literally what I heard.

I won't name the player so as not to scuttlebutt.

The Local supermarket is currently sans toilet tissue dc !

A ridiculous situation as this corona virus thing would never be granted permission to enter the bucolic surrounds of Romsey

Its done...expect AFL to play round 1 behind closed doors as with other major events like conferences etc, Government telling all codes this behind closed doors at the moment so expect announcements closer to the dates as they don't want people to panic!

We may  need a nostalgic return to the days of yore dc when a torn up newspaper had to suffice for those  specific ablutions.

Off course good old Henry V111 had a more innovative solution   He employed a Royal ..... err .... wiper to do the job

Wait, so the government is telling sporting codes to play behind closed doors, but the announcement won't be until next week? That doesn't add up as they're still selling tickets to those matches. The first indication of possible closures would be the halting of ticket sales. If it came out that the AFL knew they were to have no one in the stands, and continued to sell tickets before they announced it, they could have a big lawsuit on their hands if they didn't reimburse people.

Also, if it is true, the only reason the government is waiting is because of the GP this week. It's the same reason they waited until all GP staff from Italy were here before banning people from Italy.

Don't get me wrong, I think it will happen, but I think it is still a few weeks away.

Fair point dc but she has been taking little pride in her work of late.

Hopefully it's Fritsch. He'll kick 15 goals round 1 - no WC defender will go near him.

The don't want panic to happen as they don't want chaos to happen!

You'll get refunded in full so don't stress re tickets but its a done deal but the government are trying to not have society breakdown  at this stage.

The NBA season seems to be doing fine with all games open to fans.  They have a hundred games a week too.

Gil mclachlan needs to ignore the hysteria and get on with things as normal.

"The NBA recently informed all 30 teams it may become necessary to play games in arenas without fans as a means of preventing the virus’ spread, and there’s a growing concern around the league that the plan will actually be enacted."

I reckon the worst part about this virus is being put in lockdown if you have small children.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
